Giveaway: $500 AmEx Gift Card & Year’s Supply of Boogie Wipes
On December 24th this year, I am packing up my Jewish family and taking them to Poppy and Nonna’s house in Rhode Island for their very first Christmas.
Poppy, aka “my father”, has been trying to establish a holiday with the family for years. When my parents got separated, back when I was ten years old, it was written into the divorce settlement that holidays would be spent with my mother (aka Grammy, but not Grammy at the time for obvious reasons.) My sister and I didn’t think much of it growing up and our traditions carried into adulthood, which means that even now, we spend holidays with our mom.
A few years ago, my dad mentioned something to my sister and me about spending Thanksgiving with him that year and we reacted like this was the most ludicrous thing we had ever heard.
“We can’t NOT spend Thanksgiving with MOM!”
“You don’t even care about the holidays, Dad.”
I will never forget the look on my dad’s face. It was at that moment I realized the reason my dad never seemed to celebrate the holidays was because he couldn’t celebrate them with his kids.
For a few years after that, we tried to establish fake holidays that we would spend with my father. “Liar’s Day” was a celebration that took place on March 6th, the day my dad thought was his birthday for most of his life, until his mother broke the news to him that he was actually born on May 6th and she had lied so he could make the kindergarten cut-off. “Status Day” was a celebration that took place on October 29th, the date my brother-in-law’s parents engraved on the back of his fancy new watch which had no significance whatsoever except that was the date they bought the watch. FYI- “Status Day” is a fabulous holiday where you go out to a really expensive restaurant and buy your loved one the cheapest item you can find from an obnoxiously upscale brand. Like a Gucci pair of socks or a Prada shower cap.
But none of these holidays really stuck with my father.
Then this year, my dad invited us up to their house in Rhode Island for Christmas. Nonna (my stepmother) is Catholic and celebrates Christmas as most people do— with a tree, Christmas Eve Dinner, stockings hung on the mantle, etc. He said the kids could help decorate a smaller kid’s tree the night before, we could do the whole cookies and milk thing for Santa and open presents the next morning.
“Oh my god, DAD! This is it! Why didn’t we think of this before? YOU CAN HAVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!”
So. Now I am tasked with not only buying Hanukah and Christmas presents, I also need to buy stocking stuffers. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO BUY STOCKING STUFFERS BEFORE. It is the most exciting thing ever.
In partnership with Boogies Wipes, I have put together my “#1 Picks” for stocking stuffers. You know, since they are the experts on all things stuffed and picked. If you don’t see the wordplay there, your children stick their fingers up their stuffed noses to pick out their boogers far less than mine do.
To make it even more fun— if you tell me your #1 Stocking Stuffer Pick in the comment section below, you could win a $500 American Express gift card and a year’s supply of Boogie Wipes! (I’m really having a lot of awesome holiday giveaways, aren’t I???)

I love the fingerless gloves! My co-workers prefer it to be sub-zero in the office and regular gloves are really hard to type in!
Also, I am already subscribed…and I love it!!!
My daughter loves music and loves Minnie Mouse my favorite stocking stuffer that I bought so far is a Bowtique microphone.

We have a tradition of getting on orange in the bottom of our stockings. It was something my grandparents got when they were young and my mom has carried it on for us. She calls the orange our “little golden world.” I have to get those boogie wipes of the toddler I nanny for! They seem wonderful!

A giant pickle in the toe of the stocking is a MUST. We do socks, hairbows or elastics, a bit of candy each year. This year each kid is getting his/her own can of Pringles LOL
The bubble guppy bath toys would be great option! We recently threw away the kids bath toys because our oldest forgot to drain the tub before vacation and the toys got icky!
My little boy gets a special book, with a note from Santa inside. Growing up, our parents got us the presents under the tree, but Santa was In charge of the stockings. The tradition continues!

This is my second year that we are celebrating Christmas for the fun for kids! My favorite stocking stuffer is gift card to Bath&Bodyworks & chocolates. My son’s fav is additional train engines for his train set (he is 3.5yrs), My daughter (8 months) will get a snuggle toy.
I am subscribed to your daily emails from MommyShorts.
Those are great stocking stuffers!!! Thanks for some ideas! My favorite one would be the coffee cozy, I especially love the bright colors of that one! Have a merry Christmas! 😉
We love silly card games – UNO is always a favorite, but you can get Old Maid, Go Fish or others that are age appropriate and not very expensive. With 3 kids, now in their 20’s but still wanting stockings, it can get expensive, so cheaper is better. I always get my daughter hair ties and bobby pins, the boys get deodorant and new razors and everyone gets an orange in the bottom!
My number one stocking stuffer the past few years has been new toothbrushes, but I LOVE the band-aid idea. that may be my new favorite!
Everyone in our house gets their favorite candy in their stocking!
Socks and pens are my go-to stocking stuffers. You can never have too many!

I can’t believe only one other person picked the bacon candy! Hello? Bacon. Candy. Combination of the two best things ever! Pinning Mike’s stocking stuffers to Pinterest for my second entry. Enjoy your first Christmas! See? I told you turning 40 was fantastic!
My 11 month old is getting the Boon foam bath pieces in his stocking. Such fun shapes! I can’t wait to watch him stick them onto the side of the tub.
I am very practical with my stocking stuffers. We give new toothbrushes, mouthwash, fruit, nuts, a little candy, etc. nothing too fancy!

I love the carry-on cocktail kit!!! Super fun and one will be in my husband’s stocking this year!
Oh my goodness my reply in a sea of responses…lmao. BTW that bacon candy looked like a good idea…until I read the reviews.
My go to is candy, candy, candy and it MUST be in the red cane plastic sticks. Something about it being inside a tube just makes it taste better…that sounded bad.
I’m vehemently against socks, underwear, toothbrushes, and any of the like. Yes, I’m a “brat” but as a kid when I saw that it was discarded and usually “lost” in the wrapping paper trash.
Pinning the hub!!
As a child, every year my mom would put one of the lifesaver storybooks in my stocking. I remember the first year she didn’t I was devastated. She just thought that since I was grown up I wouldn’t want ‘childish’ things anymore. She had no clue how much impact that simple tradition had had on me. The next year it was back 🙂
Since my mom has passed on I have not been able to bring myself to buy one to put in my stocking. I stare at them wistfully every year but the hurt has not let me go there yet……maybe this year is the year to just put it all away and get me a lifesaver storybook!!
Honey straws! The kids love them and they are so much better than candy!
I love to put silly putty in the boys’ stockings. And a book or comic.
Silicone hair ties. Hold my wimpy ass hair without it falling out.
Wind up toys. I love them. Even if they break after fifteen minutes, it was worth it.
Also, I’m a subscriber.
Our favorite stocking stuffer this year is an Elmo watch. She’ll also be getting a mini “camera” viewfinder.
This is what my one year old daughter’s stocking will look like this year: Coal candy (I found the recipe on Pinterest!), dollarstore sunglasses, a mini board book, a puppy plush, some loose candy, and a christmas orange. The hubby is just getting the coal!
Not entering but i have 2 girls within a week of ur girls ages…thank you for building there stockings
My number one go to for stocking stuffer is Candy Canes…One traditional, one cool flavored and one unique to the person who’s stocking it is.
I’m going to have to get those pink babiators for my wee one’s stocking!
I pinned it! 🙂

Lots and lots of quarters so i can do laundry!

As a child the top stocking item was the life saver story books. Even now my husband will put one in my stocking.
My husband always got a chocolate orange growing up and so I put that in his stocking.
For our daughter she always gets a new pez dispenser along with a new toothbrush.
love the dinosaur crayons!
My favorite thing to give my husband, okay, and daughter are scratch off tickets. My 7 year old loves scratch tickets! She even has her own Illinois Lottery ticket scratcher that was given to her my a gas station attendant. LOL

Woohoo I tweeted my first tweet!
Nars lipstick is my favorite!
Twirly fun straws are great stocking
Stuffers
Among more fun stuffers I do sticker books, puzzles, word finds etc depending on the age of the child. This way they have a project they can work on while waiting their turn to open presents. We start from the youngest and take turns opening one gift at a time…the projects help a LOT!
I pinned
I love all of the lists! My favorite ss is the iPhone tripod…I have been looking for one of those, and it could have helped us take the perfect family photo for Christmas.
I pinned! (http://www.pinterest.com/pin/12596073933611485/)
My kids are getting back pack clips. Apparently, all the cool kids already have the Ty Beanie Boo clips on their bags- so my girls picked out a pink unicorn & an aqua leopard. My sin is getting an R2D2 Lego flashlight key chain to clip on his back pack. So far they also have band aids and candy in their stockings too.
My stocking stuffer would be diamond stud earrings. Or chocolate.
I personally love getting lottery tickets in my stocking but for my son we got him a train whistle this year that I know he’s going to love! I’m also a subscriber 🙂
Oh, the Bubble Guppies bath toys are AWESOME!

We are doing the band-aids as stocking stuffers as well as the glow in the dark bracelets! My kids love to take “glow baths” with them – glow sticks in a dark bathroom = happy kids!

My favorite stocking stuffers are warm fuzzy socks for everyone in the family. One year Santa gave my husband a nice bright pink pair.
Funny socks! we would always get them in our stockings as a tradition, we always had a laugh.
My favorite stocking stuffer as a kid was a cassette tape. Every year we would get whatever album we had been asking for. I think it was because my parents knew we would want to listen to it immediately, buying the some nice Christmas morning sleep-in time.
Gummy treats are my go to stocking stuffer. Not something we have often and they come in so many shapes and colors! Whatever the kiddos are obsessed with that year they probably make a gummy for – sharks, space shuttles, tiny cheeseburgers… Craziness!

I always make sure to put high-end fruit in the stockings. Ha ha, not a phrase I have used before but you know what I mean. I am Jewish so all my ideas are stolen from other people and tv shows. Everyone gets socks because we saw that on Peppa Pig. We also have a chair on the top of our tree because that was on Curious George.
My youngest is getting a “bag of crap”……..seriously. Its a small bag that comes with 4 different shaped poops. She is quite the prankster and will loooooove it! It was the third thing listed on her Christmas list……..lol
I’m also a subscriber!
Undies, of course!!! Everyone gets a new pack 🙂 This also means you have to throw out the old ones.
Chapstick for everyone!
As a mom of two, my #1 stocking stuffer pick would have to be the Nars red lipstick. Red lips is my go-to makeup trick. It wakes up my face, even when I feel sleep deprived.
Hot wheels cars for my 2 1/2 year old boy! They’re cheap, they come in a hundred different variations and he still gets excited each time he gets one!
I already subscribe to both the Mommy Shorts Daily & Weekly emails! : )
Fun chocolates, small game and DVD!
We always got our toiletries – shampoo, lotion, etc. I give my 4yo lip gloss, band aids, crayons, and various items from the One-Spot! Will be using Harlows ideas for my 15mo old this year, I don’t think she got anything last year!

Tegu blocks
My go to stocking stuffer is an ornament with the date written in it. They build as the years go by, my kids love remembering all the years of ornaments.

I always put bath stuff in our stockings. I love buying those little kits of character bath gels this time of year. I also like to throw the princess jewelry and accessories in there. We also do toothbrushes and toothpaste, socks, undies and for the adults- deodorant and razors.
