Giveaway: $500 AmEx Gift Card & Year’s Supply of Boogie Wipes
On December 24th this year, I am packing up my Jewish family and taking them to Poppy and Nonna’s house in Rhode Island for their very first Christmas.
Poppy, aka “my father”, has been trying to establish a holiday with the family for years. When my parents got separated, back when I was ten years old, it was written into the divorce settlement that holidays would be spent with my mother (aka Grammy, but not Grammy at the time for obvious reasons.) My sister and I didn’t think much of it growing up and our traditions carried into adulthood, which means that even now, we spend holidays with our mom.
A few years ago, my dad mentioned something to my sister and me about spending Thanksgiving with him that year and we reacted like this was the most ludicrous thing we had ever heard.
“We can’t NOT spend Thanksgiving with MOM!”
“You don’t even care about the holidays, Dad.”
I will never forget the look on my dad’s face. It was at that moment I realized the reason my dad never seemed to celebrate the holidays was because he couldn’t celebrate them with his kids.
For a few years after that, we tried to establish fake holidays that we would spend with my father. “Liar’s Day” was a celebration that took place on March 6th, the day my dad thought was his birthday for most of his life, until his mother broke the news to him that he was actually born on May 6th and she had lied so he could make the kindergarten cut-off. “Status Day” was a celebration that took place on October 29th, the date my brother-in-law’s parents engraved on the back of his fancy new watch which had no significance whatsoever except that was the date they bought the watch. FYI- “Status Day” is a fabulous holiday where you go out to a really expensive restaurant and buy your loved one the cheapest item you can find from an obnoxiously upscale brand. Like a Gucci pair of socks or a Prada shower cap.
But none of these holidays really stuck with my father.
Then this year, my dad invited us up to their house in Rhode Island for Christmas. Nonna (my stepmother) is Catholic and celebrates Christmas as most people do— with a tree, Christmas Eve Dinner, stockings hung on the mantle, etc. He said the kids could help decorate a smaller kid’s tree the night before, we could do the whole cookies and milk thing for Santa and open presents the next morning.
“Oh my god, DAD! This is it! Why didn’t we think of this before? YOU CAN HAVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!”
So. Now I am tasked with not only buying Hanukah and Christmas presents, I also need to buy stocking stuffers. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO BUY STOCKING STUFFERS BEFORE. It is the most exciting thing ever.
In partnership with Boogies Wipes, I have put together my “#1 Picks” for stocking stuffers. You know, since they are the experts on all things stuffed and picked. If you don’t see the wordplay there, your children stick their fingers up their stuffed noses to pick out their boogers far less than mine do.
To make it even more fun— if you tell me your #1 Stocking Stuffer Pick in the comment section below, you could win a $500 American Express gift card and a year’s supply of Boogie Wipes! (I’m really having a lot of awesome holiday giveaways, aren’t I???)

My number one stocking stuffer is cholocates! Although I have to say I love your stocking stuffer choices… may have to subtly pass that along to my hubby 😉
I’m thinking bacon candy has to be my favorite pick. It’s different, clever, and probably delicious!
I pinned the bandaids on Pintrest. 🙂
my boys love the TOOB animals! They fit perfectly in a stocking and they love all the different animals!
my son played with this popper for hours. he set up traps where it would “explode”. best stocking stuffer ever.

Growing up, my brothers and I always got silly putty in our stockings. So every year starting 6 years ago, I started putting silly putty in my now 10 year old stepdaughters stocking (which she always loves) and plan to do so for my almost two year old son 🙂 best two dollars I spend every year!

My number one stocking stuffer is an orange. It has and always will be a stocking stuffer necessity in my family; the orange is what rounds our the toe perfectly on my grandma’s knit christmas stockings! It also is the only healthy pre-christmas breakfast , 3 am snack option in the stocking seeing as candy is the only other option. When you are pulling that christmas all-nighter waiting for santa claus, the orange keeps you going!

Sofia amulet for my Sofia-Loving 2 year old daughter. I didn’t know that existed. It will be in her stocking this year.
My number one is usually character bandaids, but this year, bothof my girls are getting glitter hair spray, bc they NEED to look like Elsa. Every day. Especially at church.

#1 stocking stuffer: character stickers.
Family tradition says we also put chocolate coins, and an orange at the toe. I think my mom started the coins with me, but the orange started when my grandma was growing up in rural New Brunswick, Canada. Oranges were exotic, expensive, and not often available, so it was an extra special treat to get one!!

EOS LIP BALM
Chapstick (or as my 3 yr old calls it, lip gloss) is always a big hit as stocking stuffers in our house. Though, my favorite for myself is anything sparkly!
I think kids stocking suffers are pretty easy…my son will love anything that had wheels…for my husband I always do beef jerky, lotto scratchers, and something super hero related. I like any kind of grooming stuff in mine. Makeup sponges, brushes, hair ties, etc.
Homemade cookies, chocolate and pretty much anything else I can eat!

You’re WAY more on top of stocking then I am, and I’ve been doing this my whole life! We usually do some fuzzy socks, some fruit, some candy, and some other random trinkets that vary from year to year.
#1 stocking stuffer is CANDY!! Preferably chocolate. I also love chap stick or lip balm.

#1 stocking stuffer: SOCKS! Practical and inexpensive. 🙂
My boys each get an Imaginext Superhero in their stockings! Everyone gets socks and chocolate. Love the ideas! Thanks!
Always tuck gift cards to favorite stores so everyone can pick out something of their choice.
My favorite stocking stuffer is chocolate and along with that a toothbrush!

This year I got my daughter an American Girl doll for Christmas so her stocking is going to have a tiny doll sized stocking attached filled with miniatures of what she gets in hers. Like sunglasses and undies. I even cut a candy cane to scale as my daughter always gets a giant peppermint stick in her stocking. Like I always did as a kid. Plus an orange in the toe!
For my 11yr old, smell goods or cozy socks from Bath & Body works!
My 5 yr old – Imaginext blister packs or mini lego sets 😉
Both – the candy canes filled with Reeces cups 😉
Frozen Bandaids for the win!
Crayons and coloring books are always a big hit! And those little wind up animals. I like Mike’s pick, the cocktail multitool!!
The hexagon magnets, for sure!!
My #1 pick has to be Mini M&Ms… I wait for christmas time to get my minis in bulk 🙂

My favorite thing to put in stockings is an orange in the toe. Only because that was the tried and true thing in my stocking growing up. But my kids favorite things this year will be: hair chalk for my daughter, BBs for my son, and my 3 week old baby is super excited for boogie wipes. 🙂

I had to have some of those Babiators, and I also got the kids Myself Belts! Love to get them useful little things, plus the added bonus of chocolate or candy, cause who doesn’t like that in their stuffing? Am I right?
Nail polish – always nail polish! Always a toothbrush, too. That’s the only thing my almost 5 year old asked for this year!
Number 1 most definitely is Melissa & Doug Jumbo Triangular Crayons! Perfect and durable for the little hands.
This year’s stocking will include Confetti the Unicorn (blabla doll)
bath toys, socks with grips and the crayons!

My favorite stocking stuffers for kids are craft supplies, small candies, fun socks & hair and nail accessories.
My favorite absolute must have stocking stuffer is a stuffed animal peeking out the top. I’m 36 and we’ve brought back stockings even for us grown up kids – and I look forward to the stuffed animals the most! (Lame I know 😉 )

My picks from your lists are #3 and #10 from Mazzy’s list. Those heart measuring spoons are adorable and the lip set is awesome! For my family, my top stocking stuffer gifts that are recurring each year are: a new book and their character-of-the-moment bandaids for my daughters (3 and 6yrs old) and for my husband, a new hot sauce he hasn’t tried.. The In-Laws get fancy chocolate of somesort.
Pinned it to my board, “So this is Christmas” <3

I had to tweak the wording on my Twitter because there wasn’t enough space. Maybe I’m just new to Twitter and don’t know how to add more characters.

the bandaids. duh!
though for my snot-nosed baby, I really need some boogie whipes
Definitely character bandaids for kids! Just bought Rudolph-themed ones yesterday for this year’s stocking.
For adults, I get really nice hand cream from L’Occitane. Men are always harder for me, so I usually go with a Threadless t-sihrt.
I am subscribed to your newsletter! Thanks for the laughs and insight! Plus I miss NYC so I love seeing your girls grow up there!
I am originally from Spain and it is very typical there to have something sweet as a stocking stuffer. Here is what you get when you have been naughty, it is called ‘carbon dulce’ and it is made with sugar but it looks like coal.

My number one stocking stuffers for my kids are fun bath loofahs and character toothbrushes! My kids love it.
My personal favorite is ALWAYS the lottery scratch off ticket. Our rule is any winner under $5 goes in a pile and we use those to go buy more to scratch – on good years this keeps us busy for quite a while, considering the gas station is close by and open on Christmas.

for adults I always put a scratch off in. For my kids I give them small little sets of crayons or socks I find in the dollar bin at micheals. And finally for my pets.. The dogs get elk antlers to chew on so they don’t eat my kids toys, and the cats get catnip stuffed mice and hair ties… My 1 cat loves elastic hair ties
