Congratulations to Janel, who fought hard to win an $1000 Target gift card and a year supply of Method Air Refreshers with the headline above! May your children never have to smell disappointment again. Also failure. And broken promises. And oh yes, BURNT COOKIES.
I actually like burnt cookies, so the next time you burn them, just send them over my way. Then I’ll do a competition for “the oddest way to gain ten pounds” and my entry will be: “Have a random internet person send you their failed baked goods in the mail.”
Anyway, I hope the lovely smell of sweet tangerine, fresh clover, beach sage, french lavender and wild poppy all waft their way through your household unmentionables forever and ever, leaving a trail of eco-friendly all-natural non-chemical scents to disguise the moldy laundry forgotten in the washer, the spoiled milk in the sippy cup underneath the dresser, the cat piss in the hallway, the rotting rodent in the floor boards, the three week-old cheeseburger in the vent, the teenage boy in the bedroom, the farting concerto in the bathroom, etc. etc. etc.
Let’s all give a hand to Method for letting their Air Refresher contest be as disgusting and hilarious as it was meant to be. They never once said a particular smell went too far. Not even the decomposing body in the basement.
You can read all 40 of my favorite headlines here.
Method is my longest sponsor, having partnered with me every year for the past three years. They are one of the reasons I am able to persue this blog full-time and I thank them dearly for that. I also thank them for making awesome products that I have no qualms about promoting. They are effective, good for the environment and well-designed. Plus, the people who work there are pretty awesome.
If I have swayed you in any way to purchase Method Air Refreshers or any of the Method products I have promoted in the past (like their truly awesome laundry detergent), please leave a comment below. It’s comments like those that keep Method coming back to me for more.
Thanks to all who participated in the contest, particularly the people in the finals. Janel won by less than 1% with “Jessica and the Diaper Genie Dump” coming in a really really close second.
All finalists, please contact me at ilana@mommyshorts.com for your $50 Target gift card and the complete line of Method Air Refreshers (powered by PURE AIR as opposed to the petroleum-based propellant used in traditional air freshners).
It may not be $1000, but it’s still a pretty great prize.
Congrats to all the winners!

This post was sponsored by Method but I really do love and use all their products.
i can’t wait to try these out! i need to get to target asap!
There is a lady I work with who has had a lot of plastic surgery. Someone asked what she looked like before it and someone else answered, “Disappointed.” Ha!
Email sent. Super excited even though I wasn’t number one! I want to say congrats to the winner, but in a contest like this winning is also losing.
I’m so excited Janel’s burnt cookies won!
Oh, and once I saw this contest, I went to Target to get the tangerine spray. And let me say, it smells amazing!
Method makes some great products and inspires some great creativity! Congrats to Janel on the win!
congrats janel!! have fun shopping. I love using Method in my kitchen – they have the best smelling stuff!
Yay, Janel! That’s great. Her ad was truly awesome and I could totally see Method using it in a campaign.
I have been buying Method hand soap for years and years. Now I use their hand soap refills for my own soap pumps because my kids go through soap so quickly. I felt badly about how many plastic soap bottles we were going through, even with recycling them. I love how Method’s soap refills aren’t in huge plastic bottles – they come in plastic bags that are so much better for the environment.
Hello Method, I love your products and Mommy Shorts. Please keep the new products coming via Ilana! I’m addicted to your soaps!
I might have posted this during voting but this contest did make me go get some Method spray (I use lots of Method products) and I really love it. I’m not a spray kind of girl but the Method ones are so nice and non-chemically smelling, I’ve turned over a new, better smelling leaf!
Hello Method!
Because of Mommy Shorts I now notice your products every time Im in the grocery store or target! It help them to stand out in my mind and made the choice easy when I didn’t want my classroom to smell like the aftermath of gym class.
Thank you for supporting Mommy Shorts!! We love you for it!
Dear Method,
I initially tried your hand soap because of a Mommy Shorts endorsement and loved it and now regularly use your dish soap, bathroom cleaner, daily shower spray, kitchen cleaner, toilet cleaner, and body wash. After this contest began I also picked up your air refresher (love me some beach sage) and love it as well and will continue to purchase it. Keep on keeping on with Mommy Shorts – no doubt her shout outs about your great products will keep me coming back to try more and more!!! Thanks to you and Mommy Shorts for making my home a cleaner and more Eco-friendly place!
Sooooo excited! Thanks so much, and thanks to all the entries, they truly were hilarious! My husband is really, truly excited about the method sprays. I am, for once, in agreement with him. I love air freshener, but I won’t spray it with the kids and pets around. I love method already — all the soaps in my house are method. So excited to start using my sprays at home and at work (the boy-funk is STRONG in our college student lounge). THANK YOU!!!!
After one of your first Method posts, we bought the dish soap. I LOVE the easy pump dispenser(sp?)!
I just bought Wild Poppy for upstairs and Tangerine for downstairs! Standing in the aisle at Target I remembered all of these funny headlines and went straight for the Method scents.
Totally went to Target to find the Method air refresher because of MommyShorts post about it! My son has asthma, so I love that it doesn’t have the chemical propellants in it, but I wouldn’t have necessarily read the package to notice that difference. Thanks!
Love method product! I love the laundry detergent because my 12 year old can lift the bottle and squirt the detergent with no help (she’s small for 12). I love the hand soap because it’s triclosan-free and comes in unscented! My husband hates smelly stuff
I really wish we could buy these products in Germany. They sound totally worth it.
I have finally found the product at Canadian tire so I will be buying them there. I started out with the glass cleaner, then expand the line. When will the freshener be avail in canada!

Leaving a comment because I absolutely purchased more Method after you wrote about them.
Love their products.
And you.
YES – This campaign worked to get me to buy these air fresheners – mainly because I didn’t realize the propellant was safer for the environment until I read it on your blog- I love Method’s products as well – great stuff!!!
Because of your Method post earlier this year, I went and picked up some of their cleaning products. I am so glad I did. I love them! Now I can’t wait to try these air fresheners too.
Worked on me too. I got the beach sage spray the last time I was in Target. Love how it smells and love how I don’t have to hold my breath when I spray it.
I absolutely do use Method products more consistently than I had before I started reading your blog. I specifically love the all purpose cleaners and the dishwasher tablets.
I think any product you promote on your blog would have an increase in sales. Not just because you have a large number of readers, but because the WAY in which you promote products is always incredibly creative, has the great hook of entering to win a freebie (who doesn’t love a freebie?) – but moreso than any other blog I read, your promotional posts are also written true to the nature of the original purpose of your blog. Which means those of us who are ineligible (cough cough – Canadians – cough cough) still want to read the posts and are entertained by them; so it’s easy to remember the products when they do become available in the Great White North (or if we decide we do want them). Even if we can’t try to win them for free (wahhhhhh! #firstworldproblems)
I certainly buy method more after reading about their products on your site. I’m partial to their dish soap and hand soap, but have tried others mentioned here on Mommy Shorts. Thanks for the fun contest!
