Every summer, Mini Boden contacts me to see if I want to partner with them to promote their back-to-school clothing collection and each time, I’m like— YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Of course I do. Mini Boden is my absolute favorite line of children’s clothing. I like their adult clothing too (check out my awesome bird dress up top!!!!), but my clothes are kind of beside the point.
Picking out back-to-school clothes this year is an especially big deal because Harlow is off to kindergarten this fall. *SOB*
Her style is easy though. It’s pretty much in line with my own. We like dresses, mismatched tights, layers, lots of color and adorable accessories.
You can pretty much pick anything in the Mini Boden catalogue (as long as you skip the pants) and Harlow will be on board. She loves the little sequined details.
She loves the pops of color.
She loves the animal appliques.
She loves the thick cable knitted tights. (She even begs me to wear those to camp in 80 degree weather.)
I didn’t need to show her the catalogue to ensure she liked her clothes. I just picked everything I wanted her to wear and she loved it all.
Mazzy is much tougher. Last year, Mazzy and I really struggled trying to figure out her style. We both knew what it was NOT (no dresses, no pink, nothing babyish, nothing plain, nothing long sleeve…) We pretty much settled on jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. Although, exactly what t-shirts is a puzzle I still haven’t quite cracked. I know she prefers “cool” and “sporty” as opposed to “pretty” or “trendy.” But her definition of “cool” is very different than mine.
I have learned that Mazzy needs to pick out her own clothing or else nothing will get worn. When she and I first looked through Mini Boden’s fall collection, which is inspired by Wind in the Willows, I was a little worried. She selected one thing— a pair of striped sweatpants and an owl t-shirt. She also fell in love with a pair of rainbow hightop sneakers and a pair of gold sparkle hightops. That was it.
I told her we needed to pick out at least three outfits for the shoot but she insisted she didn’t like anything else, so I decided to select the rest of her clothing on my own and see what happened. Typically, when I look through the Mini Boden catalogue, I’m attracted to the show-stopping outfits that jump off the page— the striped rainbow sweater dress or the pink skirt with the big fox pocket, for instance. (I bought both for Harlow.)
I think that’s what Mazzy saw too when she flipped through and determined there wasn’t anything else she wanted. But Mini Boden has tons of more basic items that are lurking in the pages of their catalogue and I found myself earmarking things I normally wouldn’t have noticed— like jeans with heart patches on the knees, a pretty white button down, overall shorts, brown suede boots and a polka dot hooded sweatshirt.
When the clothes arrived, both girls tore through the packages excited to see what I had chosen. Mazzy was especially excited, holding up each item and exclaiming, “Mom! I actually LIKE this!” Thank god.
Her rainbow hightops came a few days late and I swear she stalked the mailman until they arrived.
The girls also got some back-to-school accessories like a backpack, a fox bag that converts into a rain jacket and an umbrella that they will have to fight each other for an rainy days.
I got a few items for myself too.
I tend to get really practical clothes because I know that’s wha will get the most use.
But in an uncharacteristic move, I ordered a navy bird button-down dress with a yellow ribbon sash. In truth, I ordered it because I thought it would look good in the photos.
I was right and I $%$#@ love that dress.
Not only does it give me a showstopping outfit to wear for once, it has these covert buttons on the underside of the closure (in addition to the regular buttons) so that there is no pulling or gaps around the chest. Best construction ever.
And it’s nice to look as cute as my girls. Well, almost.
For one last photo op, we recreated the inside cover of my book which (fun fact!) was a photo we had taken a few years ago from a previous back-to-school Mini Boden shoot.
I think Mazzy and Harlow are just as cute as they were back then.
And definitely just as well dressed.

This post was sponsored by Mini Boden, but we would be buying and loving their clothing regardless!
My daughter loves all things CATS! So, I think she would look adorable in the cat overall dress! 🐱
The rainbow knitted dress! My daughter LOVES all things rainbow! 🌈
Those cord leggings look like a winner!
There’s a sweet pink corduroy romper with white ducks im swooning over! So cute with tights for fall.
I love the airplane printed joggers!! One of my boys NEEDS the surfing cow appliqué t-shirt. Seriously, so cute!
I am in love with the striped rainbow sweater dress and the umbrella for my 3 year old who is heading off to preschool in just a few weeks! We love mini boden 💙
P.s. I cracked up at your kindergarten picture post…that is totally how preschool pictures are going to go at our house 😂
My son would dig that glow-in-the-dark dino shirt!!
My daughter is obsessed with horses right now so she would love the patchwork appliqué horse t-shirt.
We love the beacon blue frog applique tshirt.
Oh my goodness. Cute! We love Harlows High tops! Also love Harlow’s rainbow striped shirt! But, my eyes darted towards your white grey see through shirt with the cami underneath! Cute!!!
I would start with the all-weather jackets because I haven’t gotten that far yet in this year’s prep then those swim trunks are a must! Adorable. And probably a dress for my youngest boy who likes to be “fancy”:)
My daughter went through the catalog and asked for everything in it. Her most favorite were the deer Mary Janes. So cute.
I’m loving all the dinosaur shirts for the boys! My son absolutely loves dinosaurs and it is hard to find dinosaur shirts that also look nice.
The rainbow knitted dress is absolutely darling. I’d want it for a photo shoot with my family, just like yours! 💚
The graphic tee with the fox on the shirt!
My daughter would love the red jersey ballerina dress. She would spend hours twirling around in it!
Glow in the dark dino shirts are a must for my boys!
Those suede boots on Mazzy are to die for!
Oh where oh where do I begin?!?! We love so much…
For my 5 year old daughter: the frog or deer mary jane shoes.
For my 5 year old son: the frog sitting on the books tee
For my 3 year old daughter: the fun cord yellow pinafore with coordinating shirt and tights.
For my 8 year old son: every color in the lined pull on cargo pants.
Omg. What is not to love. The twirly printed skirt, and the long padded jacket! My girls are suckers for horses and cars so all the appliqué shirts, and dresses with matching stretch pants; swooooon… I die over! I work for Porsche and that little car line looks like the early Porsche 356 and it just pulls at my heartstrings.. Reminds me of my Grandpa. 🙂 love all of it! ❤️
Patience… because it’s our first year and I have all the feelings.
My daughter just started preschool. She would LOVE and probably never take off the Animal Overall dress in the adorable Navy Cat.
The airplane printed joggers!
Love Boden just placed an order for clothes for kindergarten!!!
Love there all weather waterproof rain coat 💕
Everything is so colorful! In love with it all! The shark shirts would be our must have. Our son has a rotation of all of about 5 shirts that he’ll wear, because he’s so particular about what’s on them. He loves sharks, so would be perfect for him!
Its hard to pick but if I could choose just one item it would be the dog big applique t-shirt for my puppy lover boy ❤
I love it all!
My son would love that umbrella, and I would have to get a fun dress too!
My goodness, the site just makes me drool! My 3yo son dresses himself everyday (within reason), he is headstrong and if he does not like something he simply will not wear it. His imagination pulls him towards bright colored clothes and it’s a plus if they have silly pictures on them! He would just love your Track pants! The patches would have him sucked in. The striped shirts with patches are also a must have 😍
My daughter looooves anything with rainbows!!!! The dress Harlow was wearing and the Stripy jersey dress are her favorite. She and Harlow have very similar styles, lots of color, accessories, and dresses 🙂
My toddler would love love love the fox bag that turns into a rain jacket. I would love it equally (especially in pictures of her wearing the bag or the jacket!).
Anything pink and beautiful for my little girl:)
I have a slender and tall preschool boy so some of the pants really caught my eye as possible fit-ables. I feel like he needs to have those yellow cords for our fall family pic. And maybe the orange shark on blue shirt for next summer. And probably the lined cargo pants for rocks and bottle caps and glows sticks that don’t have any glow left but are still special. And worms. He loves worms.
ALL the rainbows!
The appliqué long sheeve shirts!
Love the wild adventure crew sweater for my wild & adventurous boys!
Love the pretty collared smock dress!
I Love the woodland friends dress with the hedgehog. 😍. And I know my 4 year old would pick that an 3/4 of the other dresses. They are all so pretty!
Omg the girl clothes in their website are so fun and adorable. My daughter loves leggings and sweaters but hates dresses. If could chose one thing, it would be the big appliquè t-shirt that has a horse on its side with a flower mane. That shirt is so cute. The fun leggings arw so adorable. I have a feeling that I’ll be end up purchasing a couple of things from their store later on this week.
We love the Swede boots and the fuzzy vests! Sara
Oh man, so much good stuff. I have boys, so I’d buy some new cozy sweatpants and those Sherpa-lined sweatshirts, also new jammies! And for my niece – those short-overalls. Too cute. I die.
SO CUTE! It would be dresses and tights here – the rainbow high tops like Mazzy + rainbow dress like Harlow &we’d be set! Borden is great! (I love the dress on you! )
We love the heart sequin tshirt and the boy’s dino tee’s. ♡♡
How do you choose just one?? Fox pocket skirt.
Rainbows are everything!
Oh my! My little 4 year old absolutely MUST have that light blue shaggy lined hoody with the white forest animals on it! It looks so cozy and magical! She would not want me to pass up the knee socks with the animals that peek out over your boots-those are her favorite! And I think she definitely has to have the bronze leather t-bar flats to add a little shine. She’d also like to have the pretty sequin tshirt with orange sleeves and a gold heart… and I might never get over it if we can’t get her the green duffle coat. Now I’m in big trouble just for looking!
The collered rainbow dress 😍😍
The overall kitty face dress
WE just LOVE anything Boden. Leggings are so soft and fit well. TBH I really love the umbrella Harlow is rocking too. We have never tried out the shoes but all the high tops are looking fun! Thanks for the great giveaway
My son would love the dinosaur glow in the dark t-shirt!
Love the rainbow cardigan and high top sneakers! Great additions to my daughters back to school clothes.
The cosy vests look so soft and warm. They’d be very practical for my kiddos to wear as it starts to cool down. They don’t like wearing bulky coats or jackets. The smocked dresses and the cord dresses are such classic pieces.
I’m a sucker for Boden cord pinafores! I’d love matching ones for my girls this year! 😍
It is so hard to choose from their lovely clothes, so I will have to go with the umbrella. My daughter is obsessed with them and her last one just fell apart!
Oh, the dragonflies!
I love all the colorful dresses for little girls!
I love all the dresses, but if I had to choose.. surely it would be the ‘knitted rainbow dress”. Love it!
I go through the Boden catalogue VERY regularly and fill up my online cart with so many things I would like my children and me to wear!
But I do not have to go online right now: the pink skirt with fox pockets that your youngest daughter is wearing on these photos would make my daughter melt!
If I win, she will get it for sure!
And I love this dress on you: so pretty!
All of the cozy everyday cardigans 😍
My son starts his first year of preschool. Mommy is a wreck about it! I know he’s gonna love it though! But he could definitely use the leather high top with Velcro straps (he’s notorious for untying his shoes and removing them anywhere he goes. So I know with those he would be able to get his shoes back on without needing help) and he would freak out over the backpack and lunch box with little cars on it, because as he informed all of us today, cars, superheroes, and Star Wars are all his favorite things.
While those woodland animal dresses are killing me, living in Buffalo I have to be practical and go with the Sherpa lined anorak as a go-to fall coat. Bodega coats are made to last, even for active preschoolers!
Flowery jersey dress and the rainbow sneakers
So many great choices for this Fall from Boden! I’ve got my eye on both of the jersey appliqué dresses for my 3 year old, among other things 😊
I kid you not my girls styles are the same as yours. But my 9 year old is all about the skinny jeans, those rainbow high tops, that fox skirt, and I totally want that navy bird dress and yellow sash because I could rock the #&$* out of the that!#
My girls love their tights and adore the animal dresses! They use the best pattern and colors
I love the rainbow dress and numerous high-too desifns.
An umbrella!
My son has to have silly animal tshirts.
I’m having another baby in a couple weeks so I need some new clothes stat. I really could use some stylish new nonmaternity clothes since I have skipped a few seasons of shopping.
The cozy reversible vest in blue and green for my 4yr old son is a must! Gotta have a good vest for fall and school time!
My boys would love the reversible vest and hoodies, especially the airplanes.
My son would love the glow-in-the-dark Dino shirt in either color. He loves to roar like dinosaurs and this would fit his playfulness perfectly!
The animal overall dress in navy! My daughter loves all the cats!! The leggings with the little cat print on the knees too! These clothes are adorable!!!
The dresses without waists!!! My 6 year old daughter is super picky and doesn’t like the feel of dresses around her waist or anything that “scratches”. Finding clothes that feel good on her is my biggest challenge! Our mornings are extra difficult some mornings.
My oldest boy 3.5, starts Pre-K soon and he would love the bug shirts and glow in the dark dinos.
I love the Fun Printed Dress in the car pattern and the T-shirts for girls with cars or dinosaurs on them. My daughter loves cars and dinos, but also will only wear “girl colors” (which is something that she came up with all on her own) so these are perfect for her!
Well my 3 year old is more on the realm of snazzy, no dresses, nothing “pretty” i.e. No sequins, buttons, etc. I always look at my Mini Boden catalogue longingly. But looking through now….the pointelle stripe shirts would do the trick. Esp if it’s blue. And my 5.5 year old son….literally anything from the site. He doesn’t care what I dress him in so I can have fun there.
I really love the same bird dress you got!
Our daughter’s the same age as Harlow and would looove the rainbow dress!
I love the yellow high tops, my girl is eyeing the woodland friends dresses.
I love the baby-oatmeal-marl-riverside-scene-river-bank-knitted-dress for my new baby girl, Ruth.
I love their kids duffle coats!!
Our whole family loves Boden! Their kids clothes hold up so well and are adorable. Right now, I have my eye on the race car version of the “sporty vehicle shirt” for my car obsessed three-year-old.
I’d get the floral dress Harlow is wearing or the fox backpack/raincoat!!
I am swooning over the Wind in the Willows leather, fox Mary-Janes!!! They would look so adorable on my new preschooler!!
Love the race car anorak!
Oh my goodness! My little guy is so into rainbows, and the Sherpa lined rainbow striped anorak will be so perfect for him!
My daughter would love rainbow anything! These rainbow dresses are adorable! We’ve recently decided to paint a rainbow theme on our little bungalow house and she couldn’t be more excited 😆🌈.
I will be seeing the Fun Cardigan in ecru with cars in my dreams and behind my eyelids until my little has it. So cute and would be fun for preschool!
My daughter is gonna love the rainbow dress!
I LOVE the leather Mary Jane’s in the deer tan color. My 4 year old falls more in line with Harlow’s style. Lots of dresses and bright colors. This will be her first year of school and I’m loving all the back to school shopping.
My sons will NOT wear any old shirt. But they definitely would were any of these cool appliqué shirts. The animals, music, vehicles, BUGS! All up their alley 💙💙💙
I love all of their eclectic outfits! But I also like the solid colored dresses for girls. I have 4 girls, so I’d say any of the solid colored dresses!
The navy animal overall dress with the kitty face is my daughter’s favorite! I love that Mini Boden makes things that are age-appropriate rather than just little versions of adult clothes. My daughter doesn’t need to wear an off-the-shoulder top or dress to school, but these all fulfill her need for twirly dresses while still looking five.
My son would loom adorable in the Mini Biden raglans and slub tees! He also needs a reversible animal shirt so when he’s at preschool and gets dirty, he doesn’t even need a new outfit! 😂
Thank you for introducing me to Boden! I’d get my daughter the woodland friends dress with hedgehogs on it! Too cute!
My girls love all things stripey and with “polky pots ” 😄 love the style!
My son’s must have for back to school would be Novelty vehicle tshirt in gray with the jet.
So many cute little girl dresses! I particularly love the Hotchpotch Jersey Dress.
My girl would love the bright yellow high-tops for her preschool!
I would love the rainbow dress, for my girl because frankly, love wins! 🌈
