Giveaway: Lily Jade Diaper Bag
People always ask me why our nanny is never present in the photos on my blog, like it’s some covert operation akin to Angelina Jolie’s pack of caregivers always hovering just out of frame. But the truth is, Ruth is not in my photos because she is usually not there when Mike and I are with the girls. She comes at 8am just as I am leaving to take Mazzy to school and leaves at 6pm when I get home.

Mazzy is in school the majority of the day but sometimes, I’ll meet Ruth and Harlow for lunch or give Ruth some time off while I take Harlow to a class. My schedule is flexible so I am almost always available for doctor’s appointments and class field trips. Depending on timing, I might come home to get Harlow or Ruth will drop Harlow off at my office, which is in walking distance from our apartment.
But it’s not often we all go on an outing together.

Over the course of the day, Ruth and I text each other playdate times and pertinent info, but we are far beyond instructions and schedules. After five years, Ruth knows my kids naptimes and eating quirks almost better than I do.
She sends Mike and I photos and videos of the girls throughout the day and sometimes we’ll send them to her over the weekend too. If Harlow or Mazzy do something particularly amusing, Ruth is usually the first person I want to tell because I know she will get it better than anybody else. Ruth is also the person I text if I can’t locate Mazzy’s Boo or Harlow’s favorite pair of sunglasses— she almost always knows where I can find them.

I know being a nanny is a job, but Ruth is exceptionally close with my kids and I really think of her as family.
She has been our trusted caregiver since Mazzy was six months old.
She has known Harlow since the day she was born.
She has watched my blog grow from something I was doing after work to something I am doing full-time.

Mike and I have always known that as the kids get older, our arrangement with Ruth would need to change, but the change is happening about a year earlier than we expected.
You see, Ruth is expecting a baby of her own.
I swear, I almost burst into tears writing that. Partly because I am so happy for her. Partly because change is hard. But mostly because I know Ruth is going to make the absolute best mom.
Before you get weepy too, Ruth is not leaving us for good. She is taking time off to have her baby over the summer. Her last day is June 30th and she will be returning October 1st. When she comes back, she will be working part time in the afternoons. We have enrolled Harlow in a preschool Monday through Friday morning, so Ruth’s hours will start when she picks up Harlow after school.

Part of being our nanny has been having firsthand experience with all the baby products and gear I have received through the blog over the years. We share a stroller and a diaper bag after all, and Ruth never hesitates to tell me what is and isn’t working for her.
Ruth and I both have a lot of experience with the Lily Jade diaper bags since I have been working with them for the past year and have more than one that we alternate between us. The removable baby organizer comes standard in all Lily Jade diaper bags, which makes it super easy for us to transfer Harlow and Mazzy’s necessities (snacks, cups, diapers, wipes, etc.) from bag to bag, regardless of who is carrying it.
When I asked Ruth what she wanted for her baby shower, she asked for a Lily Jade of her own. She picked the Madeline in red canvas because she likes the option to convert her bag into a backpack when necessary.

We have Ruth’s real baby shower this weekend, but we staged a little baby shower of our own earlier this week.

I can’t wait to see how she stocks the bag when all the choices are her own.
I won’t reveal the name of her baby yet, because it’s not my place, but I will tell you it’s unique and beautiful. I will also tell you that at 6pm when Ruth leaves for the day, Mazzy and Harlow say goodbye to both her and her unborn baby by name, which is just the sweetest thing.
As emotional as I am about Ruth leaving for three months, Harlow and Mazzy are not going to know what hit them. Especially Harlow. She is very attached.

So, I think it’s safe to say, in the remaining days of June, I will be taking TONS of photos of Ruth. I will need them to show my girls, when they tell me they miss her over the summer.

Congratulations, Ruth. You are going to be the most amazing mom! I know better than anybody.
And I can’t wait to meet your new baby girl.

I could not live and raise our 3 boys without my husband. He completely balances me out and when our spirited second born and i are butting heads he is the only one who can relate to him, calm him down, and play with him. I appreciate the help and love when he gets to play hooky from work so we can all enjoy being a family.

I’m currently pregnant with baby #2 and my husband just started a new job. We have moved to a new state and away from my mommy friends. We are closer to family, but not in the same city with the same craziness of kids and the abundant shoulders to cry on. I would not have survived the past 3.5 yrs without my sisters from other misters in Kentucky. I love them all and am sincerely scared about having a new baby without them.
I couldn’t do it without my husband. We both don’t have anyone else to watch our kids, though, and we are currently both exhausted!

my mom and sister!!! They both know when I just need someone to stop buy and play with my kids so I can do something as basic as getting a shower:) I don’t know how moms survive without family close by!
My husband is such a great father to my 11 year old! Seeing him with our son has changed my outlook on him. Although he works most of the day, he devotes the last precious hours before bedtime to my son and I. Thank you Ryan!!

Our son just turned a month old – no way could I have done it without my mom or my husband. They have been the best support and they are amazing with baby boy.
I absolutely could not live without my partner in crime, my favorite baby daddy, my hubby to be, and the most amazing father in the planet. He is far more patient that I am with our children (we have 2 boys 5, and 1, and are due with our first girl any day now). He has no problem taking over bath and bed time, cooking, cleaning, rallying the troops, etc.. and he works full time and supports our family. He is amazing to say the least, and I am one blessed, lucky lucky lady!

I couldn’t live without my husband! Hes an amazing father. He comes home for lunch every day and instead of eating he feeds our daughter lunch. Then when he gets home from work he practically runs in to see our baby girl.

I couldn’t do this parenting thing without my husband. He models patience and grace and a whole lot of fun.
I could not imagine doing this without my ever-patient husband. He is a child at heart and does an amazing job loving on, being present with, and guiding our two girls. I adore him for the amazing father that he is!

My husband is my rock! He works hard so that I can be a stay at home mom, but as new parents he has saved me & allowed me to take care of me so I don’t lose my sanity. I’m grateful for work ethic, but I’m miserable when he is gone for too long!

These days it’s just me, my almost two year old and ever-growing belly at home during the days. I do my best to handle as much as possible but it’s such a treat on the days when my husband comes home and recognizes that I need a break from dishes, changing a diaper or folding laundry. He’s a keeper!

I’m thankful that my husband works his butt off everyday so that I can be there for our son and be his only caregiver.
I don’t know how I could wrangle both kids and keep the house going without my husband. He is the best partner and my greatest supporter. The children and I love and adore him.

I am the primary caregiver for my little toddler and soon to come baby! However my husband is the primary caregiver to my sanity! If he didn’t help with chores, taking our toddler to the park so I can rest, work hard to always have food on our table, babysits so I can have a girls night, etc., etc. I am not sure how I would survive!
My mom is such a great support! She runs errands with me and the kids, helps me do our laundry, and watches my littlest so that I can participate in story times with mu oldest. There is so much more she does for us, we love having her close by!

my hubby is definitely my go to guy, he has always been so great. When he sees a need he fills it. Whether it’s changing diapers, making dinner or helping me with cleaning the house. He will do anything I need him to. Love him!

I am the caregiver I can’t live without. My husband works 2 jobs and we live 500+ miles from any family.
We had twins three months ago, one of them is still in the NICU. Our moms have been invaluable! They come and stay at our house and are with our daughter during the day so that I can drive over an hour to visit our son everyday. We couldn’t do it without them!!

I cannot live without the help of my husband. I’m a nurse and he’s a police officer, so we both have long hours at work. After our second child I decided to work part time so that I could spend more time with the girls. I try to work opposite of my husband so every day that I work, he is the sole caregiver of our two little ones. And he does an amazing job. He gets them wherever they need to go, bathed and reads to them, and always has food on the table.

It would have to be my husband, he really helps out so much with everything. A complete hands on father, even after working 12 hours a day he still makes time for playing, feedings, changing and bath time. Couldn’t do it without him.

I could not do this with out my husband! Sure he is like a third kid sometimes 😉 but at the end of the day with out his shoulder to cry/vent on or his helping hand I would be a BIG MESS! He is so amazing with our children too and can make them laugh like no other 🙂

Even though I stay home with our two kids, we rely on both of our moms so much! They provide a much needed break, or helping hand whenever we need them. Sometimes it’s just an extra hand in the pool. Other times it’s dropping by to say hi to the kids and keep my sanity in check. We’re so lucky to have both grandma’s within a 15 mile radius. We’re spoiled with free babysitting from people who love our kids!

My favorite caregiver is my mom. I know how blessed I was to have a mom that was almost always able to stay at home with us while my dad worked. She taught me how to sew, cook, and run a household. She did crafts with us and made our entire childhood full of fun and laughter.

I couldn’t do without my husband. I have five children and one with special needs. She has a ton of doctors appointments and physical therapy appointments. We are always at the hospital with her. Plus the other kids all have developmental delays so they have a lot of appointments too. My husband works every day to provide for us so I can stay home with the kids. I homeschool them and he supports us fully. He is a great man and a wonderful father!

I follow Lily Jade on facebook. My hubby is definitely an awesome caregiver for our children. I don’t know what I would do without him. He makes sure our oldest gets off to school most mornings and lets me sleep in with our lil one (since the little often has me up late or in the middle of the night). He is the best ~ helping with any and every household chore as needed.
