Back when I was in my early twenties, at my very first advertising job, there was an unofficial caption contest that happened every week. One of the copywriters in the creative department would take the Family Circle cartoon from that weekend’s paper, remove the caption and hang it on his office door. Then anyone could leave an anonymous caption (the more offensive the better) and everyone would vote for the winner.

I think that contest was my first introduction to truly over-the-top offensive humor and I have to imagine most of it would NOT FLY in a corporate environment today. The guy who ran that contest eventually became my boyfriend for a few years, so I guess I was pretty good at it.

Anyway, today I stumbled on an Instagram account that took me back to that totally offensive office caption contest. The account is called @forest_fr1ends and it involves miniature tableaus using the little squirrels and rabbits from the Sylvanian Family, which, from what I gather, seems to be the British version of Calico Critters. Then, these mostly innocent set-ups are captioned with the dirtiest humor possible.

In the Forest Friends world, your child’s favorite forest creatures (Harlow has a few sets involving mice and pandas) are engaging in sex, drugs and debauchery that would make those inappropriate elves, and even my ex-boyfriend, blush.
