GIVEAWAY: 5 Boxes of Back to School Clothes from Kidbox
A few weeks ago, Mazzy, Harlow and I were invited to a party thrown by Kidbox, a seasonal subscription box for kids’ clothes. The party was to celebrate their 2nd birthday and also to bring together their “Kid Board of Directors,” a group of kids selected because they share Kidbox’s philanthropic mission of helping others and giving back.
In fact, many of them have already started non-profits of their own. Sidney Keys III (age 12) started Books N Bros Reading Club, which facilitates meet ups of 7-12yo boys to encourage literacy and bring awareness to positive African American literature. Ella R. Tyron (age 8) has made it her mission to supply children’s hospitals with enough crayons for every child patient. And you might know Naomi Wadler (age 11) from her powerful speech at the March for Our Lives Rally in DC about the disproportionate number of black women and girls who are victims of gun violence.
Mazzy became fast friends with child actress and Kidbox Ambassador, Brooklynn Prince (age 8), who you might know from her award winning role in The Florida Project. She is an advocate for the Community Hope Center, a non-profit which assists low-income, poverty level families and individuals living in and around Osceola County, Florida.
It was really an honor to have Mazzy and Harlow in a room with all of these inspiring young kids, so they could see firsthand that you don’t have to be an adult to make a difference. We also learned that Kidbox has a mission of their own called “One Box at a Time.” Their goal is to help clothe as many children in need as possible by donating one item of clothing for every box sold.
I am always looking for brands that put “doing good” at the forefront of their business practices, so I am so excited to announce that I will be partnering with Kidbox this year.
To kick off our partnership, Mazzy and Harlow got to attend a session about bullying where they learned that positive messages can impact behavior and that clothing can help spread those messages.
All the kids in the room got the opportunity to design t-shirts with slogans centered around anti-bullying. They talked through their designs with Kidbox’s Design Director and picked color swatches for them to be made into real shirts that they can wear.
This is Mazzy’s:
This is Harlow’s:
After they completed their designs, Mazzy and Harlow were whisked away into another room where they got to unbox a summer box of Kidbox clothing. Unlike some of the other kid clothing subscription services, Kidbox contains both their own brand and a variety of other high quality brands. Mazzy and Harlow’s boxes contained clothing from brands like 7 for All Mankind, Splendid, Butter and more.
And I have to say, they really NAILED both Mazzy and Harlow’s style.
They’ve been wearing their summer clothes for the past few weeks and just got their Back-to-School boxes.
Harlow was so in love with her back-to-school items, that she got mad at the term “back-to-school” and demanded to wear her new off the shoulder shirt IMMEDIATELY. You can watch her her hilarious HOT TAKE on the term “back-to-school clothes” here.
Mazzy does not love dresses but she LOVES her new “The Future is Female” t-shirt dress and has been wearing it every single day when she gets home from camp.
There also was a plethora of unicorn themed attire to make everyone happy.
In each Kidbox (which is designed specifically so that kids can color the boxes), there are also fun alphabet stickers, a few fun gifts (like a pencil case and a water bottle in the back to school box) and a newspaper called “The Scribble.” Each Scribble has a theme, with helpful articles for both parents and kids, along with a spotlight on a charities they are supporting this season.
For back to school, anyone who keeps their full box gets to choose between donating to to a charity supporting homeless families, victims of domestic abuse, or Puerto Rico relief. Kidbox’s belief is that it’s never too early to start talking to your kids about ways to give back, so they created a really easy way to involve your kids and help them figure out what causes are most important to them. In addition to helping these charities, by the end of this summer, the company is on course to donate $8.5 million in new clothing, having clothed one million kids.
There are five seasonal boxes: spring, summer, back-to-school, fall and winter. You can sign your kids up, have them take their “style quiz,” and order your back to school box here!

St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
We always help with The For Elysa Foundation, founded after my college friend’s very young daughter died of myocarditis. My friend has transformed her painful loss into doing good for others.
National Alliance on Mental Illness. My mother suffered from depression for years and survived 4 suicide attempts. She’s doing much better now, but there’s a lot of stigma around depression and anxiety and I definitely feel like it needs to be talked about more.
I love foster care and adoption as a cause as well as advocating for folks of all different abilities, with a special affection for adults who have a developmental disability. I was a nonprofit professional before resigning to homeschool my 3 kids. The fullness of life is absolutely correlated to generosity, community, and faith. I’m so glad you’re representing a business with a big heart!!!
Ronald McDonald House means a lot to my family. They gave us so much comfort when my little brother was in the hospital for months

Preemptive Love. So great, I encourage you to check them out!

Our family likes to support our local Y, which does wonderful things for our community!
The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House

Ronald MacDonald House is an awesome charity that gives families a home like environment to stay if their child is very sick. My daughter’s birthday is coming up and I would love to win a kidbox!
What a neat concept! My go-to charitable causes are a local women’s and children’s shelter and the humane society.
International Justice Mission 🙂
Make A Wish, St Jude’s, and Ronald McDonald House.
My favorite is The Crayon Initiative where we live. All second graders in our school become volunteers. They have to sort used crayons donated from restaurants and schools to be recycled into new crayons and then pack them up and send them to children in hospitals.
The Alzheimer’s Association is one of our preferred charities to support.
St. Jude’s Hospital and Planned Parenthood are charities that are so important to me. ❤️
wow, this brand sounds awesome! I support child abuse victim charities.
ApParent Project Haiti

My favorite charity is operation gratitude – the Halloween candy giveback. 🍭 🍬 The troops get candy and my daughter (any myself) don’t go crazy on candy
We love Water for People. No one should be without fresh water. In fact, we have it Smile Amazon set up for that organization. I encourage everyone to check Amazon to see if their favorite charity is listed. If you’re like me and order from Amazon Prime on the regular, order from their Smile.Amazong.com. Everything is just the same but they make a donation for pretty much every order. So simple!
Domestic violence
Sea Shepherd Conservation Society! Against the illegal slaughtering of whales and keeping our oceans clean!

I’m a big supporter of Holly House and St.Jude!
I work at a children’s hospital and see first hand t miracles of Make A Wish and what the do for the kids and their families.
Reach Out and Read! The program supports pediatricians with books and information, given to children and their families at each well child check in support of early literacy! We had a strong program area and when it flagged, the pediatricians, then the community rallied to keep it going.
Also Parents as Teachers. All families need support on the parenting journey and their home visit model values the strengths parents already have within. I’ve been in early education 20+ years and have watched the impacts of both. As a mom with two young kids (had them later, so glad I did!) any and all community supports for families can be game changers.
Autism speaks. I have a son with autism.
Dana Farber Cancer Institute!
Being in Canada the places are different, but we have a special bond with Autisum, so we always try to find new ines relating to that, and small places, where you know its actally going yo go to help someone.

the ALS association is my favourite, it helped my mom out a lot.
We love Make a Wish!
We are also foster parents, and love the small organizations around us (like IAmJ3) who support children in foster care in our area. ❤️❤️
Moms Demand Action is my favorite cause
Aside from local charities, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital is a place I always give back to. Any place working countless hours to help kids (especially without placing a huge financial burden on their families) will always have my support!
I’ve recently became involved in a charity called Compassion International. A faith based org that connects people with children in developing countries to help them build better lives. The org has helped inprove the lives of many children through sponsorships that are legitimate. Your money goes directly towards your sponsored child’s involvement with the org.
Beads of Courage
One of my favorite causes is Breakthrough Workshop Theatre. It is a small non-profit theatre company in San Diego whose mission is to facilitate personal and creative breakthroughs for theatre artists and audiences of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels by facilitating challenging and unique theatrical experiences.
What an awesome business! Thanks for sharing about it! We love to support Children’s Mercy hospital on our home town of Kansas City!
Hi Wiles family! Short answer is Chicago Mercy Home for kids.
Long answer: Every year around the holidays, our family sponsors 5 kids from the Mercy home in Chicago. I feel like it is important for our kids to not only see how they can help improve the life of a child as well as bring happiness for another person, but also it puts in perspective how silly “Christmas wish lists” are. Nothing will show you how unnecessary the hottest new toys are quite like another 8 yr old asking for new socks or bedsheets.
Currently, its donorschoose.org, where teachers can create a fundraiser for something they need for their classroom. Once their goal has been hit, donorschoose will purchase what is needed and send to the teacher.
(A local mom’s group has created a $5 dollar friday and chooses a fundraiser for a local teacher and asks for us local moms to donate $5 to the effort and help complete the fundraiser in one day. Its been a great opportunity to help support our local teachers.)
Alzheimer’s Association
Ronald McDonald House. I pass one every single day and see families able to walk to and from the hospital.
I have 2 amazing organizations I always support. Number 1 is make-a-wish. My beautiful friends daughter was diagnosed with cancer when she was a tiny baby, she beat it after rounds of chemo and treatment. Recently the 8 year old developed it again. Thank God she caught it early and has since beaten it for the second time. Make a Wish took her and her family to Hawaii in the most beautiful trip to celebrate Bella being the warrior she is.
I also love the Kind Campaign. Teaching kids to get rid of the bullying in their schools.
We love make-a-wish and the work they do!
My daughter has hip dysplasia, so not a charity, but the Scottish Rite hospitals treat all children and base cost on a family’s income! It’s an amazing place! No one is turned away.
JDRF is also near and dear to our hearts.
Make a wish
world wildlife fund
My sister was a sick baby and Ronald McDonald House allowed us to stay close to her when she was in hospitals across the country.
Make a wish
So Others Might Eat (SOME) a local soup kitchen in DC and No Kid Hungry
My son Drew has Autism and a chromosome anomaly. Our favorite charity is Special Olympic’s! I love that people with special needs can have the opportunity to try sorts on their own level and encourages individuality even though they are different from the norm! Such a great charity!
Wounded Warrior
dog fur days is my favorite charity. i have also been a huge fan of this group that is working on becoming a non profit called Moms Helping Moms.
Doctors Without borders and Make a wish are my favorite!
Make a wish foundation.
Even though I have all boys, I love the mission of Girls on the Run. I’ve been a coach and a Jr. board memeber at my local chapter. And look forward to coaching again when my schedule allows it. I also love make a wish. I had a student who was able to go to Disney with her family because of Make a Wish. I could see the impact it had in bringing joy to that sweet, strong little girl!
We give small Heifer items as stocking stuffers (last year my boys got a flock of chicks and a starter beehive) and have talked about enabling people to help themselves and pay it forward. But I think they would choose something that helps the homeless, since we unfortunately see a lot of it in the DC area and it’s something they have both asked about (why some people don’t have homes, how do they eat, etc.)
Planned parenthood
Without Permission is my favorite charity. They are local to my area and have a vision of seeing the community free of sex trafficking.
American Cancer Society
I love Planned Parenthood, Together Rising, and Baby2Baby!
Jacobs Heart (children’s cancer support group)
Leo’s Haven is our newest one I support. A ALL inclusive playground for all needs and spectrums. ADA, cerbal palsy, structured swings for DME. No kids who grow up with medical needs have a playground they can access and participate at.
San Andreas Regional Center (support our best buddy who have Cebral Palsy and Autism)
Planned parenthood – for the love of women ❤️
WWP – until they all come home!
Pediatric Stroke Warriors. They send out care boxes to children who have suffered a stroke and also help to educate the public that kids have strokes too! My daughter is a stroke survivor.
https://pediatricstrokewarriors.org/index.html
Some local charities in my area that I like to support are 2nd Harvet Food Bank and Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
My big cause is climate change, because of the drastic negative effects it will have on the people who are already the most vulnerable in this world. My favorite organizations are Oxfam and Sierra Club, both of whom address the big-picture issues associated with climate change, poverty, and social justice.
Make a wish
Anything that helps species at risk in our area!
The ADHD Foundation, as we have been going through this ourselves with my oldest son (6 yrs old) and will be having my youngest son (3 yrs old) tested this winter/spring.
More information and recognition needs to be made on this issue as a lot of agencies, schools, teachers, and government funded programs still do not hold this as a disability worth helping children and their parents.
Local animal charities in the Western MD area is who I like to donate to because they try to get the bigger funding but they usually can’t. I also like American Cancer society and the ASPCA.
We love to support our local food pantry.
Empty Bowls, Wounded Warrior and Humane Society!
The Ounce of Prevention: advocating for access to early childhood for all children.
Kid Box looks very cool. What a great company for teaming up with charities 🙂
My fave charity is March of Dimes. My nephew was born 6 weeks early and was in the NICU for 12 days. The families of NICU babies go through so much, and it is nice to support this charity.
xoxo
First Decents (organization for young adults impacted by cancer)
One of my favorite charities is a local one called Lory’s Place that provides grief counseling to children.
