A few weeks ago, JCPenney gave me a list of fall trends and challenged me to up my fashion game. I had to go to the JCPenney store and put together five looks incorporating as many of the trends as possible. Some of the trends fit my current style, like “camo green” and “destructed denim,” but others were a little bit more of a departure, like “global style” and “romantic tops.”

I love when I get opportunities like this because it is seriously the only way I make time to shop for myself. I used to love clothes shopping but after I had kids, putting myself together took a big back seat to dressing my children. Being “on trend” was certainly not a priority. I settled for “showered” and “not stained.”

The other part of the challenge was making a video that showed off all my new outfits. Just me, without my adorable kids to fall back on to entertain you all. I am no fashion blogger and filming a full body shot of myself walking down a street is not something I do often. But, I rose to the challenge and actually had a ton of fun with it. It’s so much easier to make videos when your kids aren’t involved!!!!

Allie and I shot and edited the whole thing ourselves and I’ll speak for us both when I say, we are pretty proud of it. Oh my god, the things you can accomplish with just a camera phone!

The other cool thing about the video is that it is “shoppable.” That means that throughout the video, links will pop up pointing to certain items that I’m wearing. If you click them, they will take you directly to that item on JCPenney’s website.

Hope you like it!

A few days after the shoot, the photographer sent over the photos below. I feel really good about them. Maybe I can be a fashion blogger? Like an older shorter not stick thin version who doesn’t wear expensive clothes? Do those exist? Sign me up.
