Besides diapers and wipes, every mom has different items they feel are absolutely necessary to tote around in their diaper bag. Whether this is your first baby or you’re a card-carrying professional who just popped out your fifth child, these items can tell a lot about your parenting style.
Do any of the seven moms below sound like you? Let me know in the comments and you could win a brand new diaper bag from Lily Jade.
the brand spankin’ new Mom:
Bag Featured: Rosie in Brandy
Her bag is packed until the stitching strains with everything the internet, the baby books, her doctors, her friends and probably a few random strangers told her she absolutely needs to have on hand at all times. Wipes, backup wipes, five diapers, a change of clothes, Sophie, a backup Sophie, hand sanitizer, a hat, socks, a change of socks— and that doesn’t even count whatever’s in all those side pockets! Never mind the fact that she’s only going down to the end of the driveway to get the mail.
the “I saw it on pinterest” mom:
Bag Featured: Cailin in Royal Purple
This mom’s baby is never bored because she’s toting all the supplies to create age-appropriate on-the-go activities whenever her child needs a little stimulation. At a restaurant? She whips out her DIY collapsible art tray with an assortment of handmade crayons. On a road trip? She’s got a puzzle made of popsicle sticks to combat boredom and homemade yogurt drops sealed in a mason jar for snacking. You can spot her easily because she’s wearing a coordinated outfit with her baby. Hand sewn of course. A peek inside her diaper bag reveals a selection of headbands decorated with over-sized felt wool flowers. Oh, didn’t you know? She sells them on Etsy.
the hover like a Helicopter Mom:
Bag Featured: Caroline in Brandy
You’d better get out of this mom’s way, or risk being knocked down by her diaper bag as she rushes to reapply yet another layer of sunscreen to her toddler’s face. It’s the super thick stuff too. No easy out with a spray. She’ll be happy to give you a disinfecting wipe for your child’s hands, as long as you keep an eye on her little one for the brief millisecond her gaze is averted. Why’s her bag so heavy? Could be the fully-stocked first aid kit (you can’t be too careful!) or the 700 page book “Your Essential Guide To Kindergarten”. Sure, her baby’s barely walking but it never hurts to start your research early!
the “OH MY GOD I’m Exhausted” Mom:
Bag Featured: Meggan in Black
There’s a lot of necessary items missing from this mom’s diaper bag— like diapers. And snacks. And oh crap. WHERE DOES THAT PACIFIER KEEP DISAPPEARING TO??? However, she does have plenty of other essentials, like her trusty Starbucks gift card (sadly, there’s only $0.37 left on that thing), a bottle of iced coffee (hey, there’s a special insulated pouch in there that’s made for carrying bottles!) and an oversized pair of sunglasses meant to disguise the fact that this mom hasn’t slept more than two hours since the baby was born TWO YEARS AGO.
the eco-friendly all-natural organic Mom:
Bag Featured: Madeline in Red Canvas
This mom and her baby don’t need to tote around much. She’s planning to breastfeed indefinitely so meals and snacks are covered. Those bottle pouches on the side of her bag? She uses them to stuff her reusable cloth diapers until she can get them in the wash. Her ultra-safe eco-friendly detergent was concocted in her kitchen because it’s the only way she can ensure it’s truly chemical-free. Whenever boredom strikes, she pulls out an unpainted wooden toy, purchased from an artisan’s booth at a nearby farmers’ market and cleansed with essential oil-infused all-natural towelettes. The only thing smaller than her 100% cotton, dye-free portable changing pad is her baby’s future carbon footprint.
the PSEUDO CELEBRITY Mom:
Bag Featured: Sarah Grace in Gold
Just because there’s no paparazzi at the playground doesn’t mean this mom and her baby’s outing isn’t news-worthy. Or at least share-worthy. Every moment is an Instagram moment perfectly orchestrated to show the world her aspirational brand of motherhood. In addition to a wardrobe change (for both her and her baby), this mom’s diaper bag contains a selfie stick (obviously), a brush (for perfect windswept baby locks) and nail polish. You can’t hold up an ice cream cone for a close-up with a chip on your thumbnail! OH, THE HORROR.
the been there done that Mom:
Bag Featured: Elizabeth in Camel
One glance at this mom’s diaper bag tells you she’s been around the block a time or two… or three or four. It contains one diaper, which is probably a size too small but she can make it work, and one pacifier (she’s not worried about getting those crumbs off it, because that’s what pant legs were made for). Littered with empty granola bar wrappers and broken crayons (two signs of successful parenting as far as she is concerned), this bag is may not contain wipes or clean tissues— but if she rummages around long enough she’ll probably find an old napkin, which is close enough.
Not matter what kind of mom you are, Lily Jade diaper bags are an excellent choice to fit all your essentials.
They have sophisticated leather and canvas options, all with their removable ‘baby bag organizer insert‘ which stores everything you need for your baby. You can easily remove the insert when you are going somewhere without the kids, creating a fabulous bag no one would ever guess you use for diapers and wipes regularly.
Today, I’m giving away one Lily Jade bag to one lucky reader!

I’m definitely a “been there done that” – I put one diaper in my bag for every 2 hours I’ll be gone. I’m usually okay with that ratio. Thanks! These bags are beautiful.
I am definitely a been there, done that mom, but I always have a pack of baby wipes. They are everywhere and used for everything.

I think I’m a combo of the Been there done that/exhausted/new mom. My bag usually has what I need to get by, but due to exhaustion between the elder kiddo and the new one I tend to forget things too.
I’m a been there done that mom, you will see my 5 kids before you see me, but I love the pinterest mom’s bag. I could use an upgrade and thsee bags are beautiful!

Been there, done that. Except I never leave without wipes….my husband and two teenagers use them more than the baby haha 😉
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/565835140661346607/ I’m on my 6th, so definitely Been There, Done That kind of parent with a dash of Exhausted Mom and Eco-Friendly mom thrown in.

Definitely the ‘been there done that’! 🙂
I’m actually a combo of the gotta have it all in case we need it and the baby wearing cloth diaper mom. It’s good to be prepared!
Please enter me for the diaper bag. http://pinterest.com/pin/201113939587351046/
I am so the brand spankin new Mommy!!! Overpacked and prepared for surviving the zombie apocalypse with diaper bag in tow! Crossing my finger and toes that we get picked for the Lily Jade bag!!! Been dreaming of owning one once I became a mommy and realized I need a functional and fashionable diaper bag!!!!

Been there, done that mum – that is totally me. My son dumped my bag out on the floor during a meeting this morning and everyone there got to see the crumbs, broken crayons and a random handy wipe from a restaurant in all their glory.

Clearly I haven’t slept since late 2006 as I forgot my URL. So now there’s an eighth kind of mum: Been There Done That And Exhausted.
BTDT for sure! https://www.pinterest.com/pin/189080884333479974/
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/234257618094973632/
lately I’ve just been shoving a diaper in my purse and walking out the door. hah
I am a fun mix of economic friendly mom, pseudo celebrity mom and been there done that mom. I always have honest company wipesand muslin swaddle. I must be ready at all times to showcase the awesomeness of my boy. I always am snapchat and Instagram ready with a brush for the both of us. A compact and gloss for me. Lastly, I have been there and done that…my son is my 4th child and when it comes to packing a bag I am no nonsense essentials only. And because I do have 4 children sometimes packing just right slips my mind.
I’m definitely the Eco mom! Love my cloth diapers, but it’s hard to find a diaper bag that can fit my cloth diaps, wipes, and wet bags.

I’ve been a been there, donethat mom, way too long

Mostly the Eco mom, minus the cloth diapers. Too lazy to clean them, we use natural ones instead!

I’m definitely the “Pinterest mom!” This little site has saved us some money, stress, and time. Great ideas and things to do….. Love Pinterest!!
Been there done that… I always seem to run out if diapers or clean clothes but always have wipes (not necessarily baby wipes.)

I am that new mom with the bag busting at the seams. I have everything from extra clothes, socks and wipes, hat, sunblock, bug spray, you name it. But Im not a new mom.

Even though this is my third child, my diaper bag is always filled with what I need and extras in case friends need them or we get caught out longer than we expected to be out of the house.

I am mostly the new mom diaper bag combined with the eco friendly mom! I think I have enough to last at least a day or two but do use cloth diapers and wipes and made my own lotion, wipe solution and diaper cream!
I pinned the pinterest mom because I love DIY projects! Our baby is due in March so I haven’t gotten a diaper bag yet but these all look so great. I’m sure the reality will be alternating between the “new mom” and the “I’m so tired mom” once our little one arrives, but for now I’m decorating the nursery with tons of things I saw on pinterest! I needed a clock for the nursery, well yesterday I picked up the parts to make one after finding a tutorial I pinned 🙂

Definitely a been there, done that mumma 🙂
I was a combo I guess. I used cloth diapers, always had diapers, a washcloth, baggies for dirty diapers, diaper rash cream, an extra set of diaper pins and rubber pants and an extra change of clothes, a light jacket and a toy or two. Formula, water and clean bottle at minimum. Occasional snacks, or teething cookies…When they were teething, teething medication. When they were sick, kleenex and baby meds. When going to park we would add bandaids, sunscreen and bug spray. It always depended on where we were going and how long we intended to be gone. It always varied. Once they were older, usually no diaper bag, but my purse usually had a diaper, several toys and various other baby stuff in it.

I am the been there done that mom but I don’t have a traditional diaper bag. I have a cross body purse/messenger bag or a tote bag depending on the day. I am a mom to boys (9 & 7), a sweet baby girl who is only 8 months old & then there is the nubbin who is only 6 weeks gestation. You know you are a been there, done that kind of mom when … in line at Target you see another mom who’s little guy just puked all over. You don’t move from the line. You offer her help, give her the pack of wet wipes from your bag and scowl at anyone who has the temerity to say anything nasty about the situation. She comes back out, you both laugh and I said, “Been there, done that & it could have been a lot worse.”

I’m a healthy mix of the Been There, Done That and the Brand Spankin’ Newbie. No backups of anything except pants & undies for the toddler and a onesie for the baby, plus a stack of diapers. And lots of wrappers, crayons and tissues.

The “They didn’t tell us about this in foster parent training” mom. 🙂
Just for the Sophie the other day!!! I am a ftm too!
Pretty much what I have in the diaper bag too, plus a sheet and blanket.

I really want to be the “been there done that” macgyver mom, but I have to admit I’m just the “exhausted mom.”
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/202310208239201961/
Definitely a Brand Spankin’ New Mom but, I’ve learned to leave some things behind during these first 11 months of my daughter’s life. 🙂
I’ve moved into the been there done that category but it took a while to get there!!
Lol def the “I’m so exhausted” mom… so embarrassing when I have to borrow a diaper or wipes 😀

After a year and a half, finally made the transition from brand new mom “stuffings” to been there done that “stuffings”;now I need a new bag to go with my new “not new mom”attitude.

Been there done that mom!!!
I’m a combo of the Pinterest and helicopter moms. I have a three-year-old with multiple food allergies, so even though I’m technically done with my diaper bag days I still carry one when I’m with my son because I pretty much take food and drinks he can eat with us wherever we go. So I LOVE a smart, stylish diaper bag when I see one. These all are so awesome.

I want to do this for my younger sister who is expecting her second girl as a surprise to her. She is “The Been There Done that Mom” and I would love to get to give this diaper bag to her. She gets up for work at 3am every day and is the hardest worker and one of the best moms I know. I admire her so much. Thank you!

I am definitely the brand spankin’ new mom. It took me six months of research to finish my baby registry and I still know I don’t know half of what to expect. And my dream bag is a Lily Jade diaper bag!
Combo of 1 and 3 and hated my first diaper bag
I’m probably more a combo of Pinterest mom and exhausted mom.
I’m definitely Brand new spankin’ mom 😀
