As many of you know, I share an office with my friend Seri, the party planner known as Little Miss Party. This past year, Seri and her partner Michelle launched Little Miss Party in a Box, which puts together all the party supplies you need based on specific themes. We used their birthday party box for Harlow’s second birthday last year. The idea is to make party planning so easy, anybody can do it.
So. When Little Miss Party recently launched their new Spring Party in a Box, Seri thought it would be fun to ask our husbands to put it together for a Mother’s Day Brunch.
“Are you sure you want Mike and Adam to set up your party????”
She was sure.
We even took the kids to the park so they could set up completely on their own.
All they had was the box, the supplies, Little Miss Party blue prints and a photographer (my new friend Dave Robbins) to capture their every move.
Otherwise, how would we know that they drank a glass of scotch before attempting to decorate?
After the boys were sufficiently intoxicated, they got to work.
Hanging paper lanterns…
Arranging two-day-old flowers in whatever vessels they could find…
Fixing broken stems with tape…
And cutting cucumbers to fancy up a carafe of water…
Mike might not know how to handle a flower without it losing half its petals, but he does have attention to detail.
Then they scoured the cabinets for assorted dishes…
Placed the bagels and cupcakes on platters…
And arranged everything on the table just so…
Somehow, despite the scotch and the tape, it turned out looking like this…
Seri and I returned with the kids a little under an hour later and the boys were already on the couch watching television.
Good thing, they got up to say “Hi”.
And then a wonderful pre-Mother’s Day Brunch was had by all.
I should have had more faith in the hubs.
Do you want to give someone the easiest route to throwing you a successful Mother’s Day brunch? Your spouse? Your significant other? Your kids? Your dry cleaner?

I want my hubby to be home all day and for us to just spend the whole day together as a family. He works two jobs and is rarely home more than a few hours in a row. I wouldn’t complain if he tended to the kids for the whole time also. But I already know I’m getting my wish for Mother’s Day because we will be at my sisters house on vacation
A bird house and some special coffee so I can start each day in a place of peace and feeling centered, ready to conquer the day.
Love this! I would love an uninterrupted night of sleep and a beautiful brunch.
All I want for mothers is for my 2 year old to sleep in, take a nap, and not throw a tantrum all day!
I’m sure this is what every mother dreams about but after just giving birth to daughter number 3 in December, and having a 3 year old and a 7 year old I would be over the moon excited to simply have an entire day to do nothing but rest.
I know that wont happen for the next 18 or so years though, so I’m thinking Pandora charms with each child’s birthstone would be nice. 😉
Nina Z clogs. I’ve been obsessing about them and never splurge on myself.
I would love an hour long Thai massage, pedicure, and then to come to a dinner with flowers & dessert all arranged by my boys. Or just dinner and a homemade card. That would be nice as well.
I would like to spend it with my family. Last year (my first Mother’s Day) my husband had to be our of town and we both were really bummed about celebrating not on the exact day for my first one. I would also like Kendra Scott earrings to match the ones I got last year that were forever gone in my lost luggage thus year, because they will always remind me of my first Mother’s Day. 🙂
I want my ring… I told my husband I want a thin band to stack with my wedding/engagement rings for each kid. I’m pregnant with #2 and no ring for #1…. We’ll blame college, but he is graduating the day before Mother’s Day. I’m hoping!
A picnic on a beach with my husband and daughter. It involves a magical basket where there’s delicious food, blankets, picnic mats, all necessary picnic items that I didn’t prepare myself!
For Mother’s Day I would love to sleep! But that is not an option unfortunately. So, I’d love a new iPod.
I would really love a planned fun activity day to actually go as planned! I just wanna take my kid to do fun zoo stuff without meltdowns or stress! Toddlers ruin all the fun 😉 But I suppose if that doesn’t happen, I’d be down for a Lily Jade diaper bag!
Too cute! What good dads! I would love a day at the beach with a book and picnic lunch! Ah
All I want for Mother’s Day is the inside of my truck cleaned out and maybe a pedicure
I want a new faucet! I have to wash dishes, by hand, for a family of t and I have no water pressure or sink sprayer. It makes it very difficult and I end up spending twice as much time at the sink while everyone else gets to hang out after meals.
I usually spend it gardening, and my guys usually get me a rose bush, or something gardening related, which I love. This year… I’d love someone to turn the beds over for me. Physical labour! I’d love to have those beds all ready to go…without me doing the hard part 😉
I’d like a new piece of jewelry to remind me of my daughter – like one of those initial necklaces or something similar. Or a housekeeper.
I want a spa day. And, an avocado saver:)
I would love a new band to go with my wedding ring in my daughters birthstone for Mother’s Day.
Love this – all these parties are always so cute!
I want quality time with my family! And maybe some beer. Mother’s Day needs to be on a Saturday so we have time on Sunday to recuperate from all the beer!
For Mother’s Day I would love some fresh flowers, homemade cards from the kids and a day spent outside playing and relaxing. 🙂
I really need a new hairdryer but since we are just returning from a week in the Bahamas that weekend, I doubt I’ll get one! 🙂
I REALLY want come Le Crueset cookware! Our Calphalon has kinda gone to crap since we got it. I just really want one! Lol!
I want to sleep in and then go get a haircut for mothers day. Is that so much to ask?
A homemade card please and brunch wouldn’t be too bad either.
I told my husband I wanted a tree cause it seems like something a mom would get. Plus my birthday is just a few days later so I can get lots of other goodies for that.
I want a spa day AND a baby (I will be 39 weeks pregnant with our 3rd boy this Mother’s Day!)
I would love to have a day of FREEDOM. I would like to go out with my best friend to get a mani/pedi, eyebrows waxed, and then a massage.Later that evening(and a bottle of wine later) I would love to have some dinner and snuggle time with my boys! A girl can only dream, right?
I really would love the chance to sleep in, have a cute little morning breakfast with my son and husband at a fun bistro, and have the whole day off at a spa session at Milk + Honey in Austin. Also a nice glass of wine with a fun romantic movie would be a great way to cap the day.
I’m in a play on Mother’s Day so it will likely fly by as any other day… mostly I’d really just like to be remembered… a card, maybe flowers. My husband is not the best at things like this and my two step daughters often forget me that day. It’s a hard day to share.
I want hugs and kisses and lots of love from my family on Mother’s Day!
I want a really nice family photo! Hopefully where everyone is looking in the same direction at the same time!
i would love sleep! But realistically i would like a new baby carrier!
I want a day at the spa or a dry bar giftcard.
It seems like anytime we go out I sn responsible for all the details, whose watching the baby, when are we going, where are we going, etc. So for Mothers Day, I would love to go out for a night and not have to worry about any of the details.
Oh what I would do to sleep til at least 730am and maybe get a pedicure. Lord knows I need one!
i WANT A DAY AT THE SPA AND THEN KISSES FROM ALL 3 OF MY BABY BOYS! AND WINE, LOTS OF WINE. 🙂
