After going through all the photo entries for the “Get Out of My Bed, Please” contest, one thing became clear. The prize should really have been a king-sized mattress as opposed to a queen-sized.
Actually, is there anything larger than a king? Like a Shaquille O’Neal sized mattress?
If I am remembering my MTV Cribs episodes correctly, Shaq sleeps on a huge circular mattress with a Superman insignia in the middle. Serta— you should GET ON THAT. You’d make a fortune from exhausted parents who would love to put a fence right down the center to make their kids understand the concept of personal space.
I have selected my 20 favorite photos/bedtime problems and they will be put to a vote today at the bottom of this post.
Ready?
The photo with most votes by October 1st will get a new Queen-sized Serta iComfort or iSeries mattress plus their adjustable foundation for a grand prize totaling $5000. You can vote once a day.
The Serta iComfort mattress features Serta’s latest dual-action gel memory foam technology, which gives much more support and cooling comfort than memory foam mattresses of the past. Serta offers eight new models with this technology, ranging from extra-firm to luxuriously plush, so every type of sleeper can find their perfect match.
For those interested in the benefits of gel memory foam, but looking for a traditional innerspring mattress, Serta offers the iSeries Hybrid Sleep Systemwhich combines their Cool Action Dual Effects Gel Memory Foam with individually wrapped coil innerspring.
The Serta adjustable foundation has lumbar support, 90-degree head tilt support and massage options, as well as some newer features like wireless motion-sensitive backlit remote, Bluetooth Connectivity, a wireless speaker system, USB power ports and convenient lighting.
That’s for all the people who take their smart phones with them to bed, like me. Actually, a pic of a spouse surrounded by smart devices would have been a great entry for the contest.)
Second and third place will win a complete Serta bedding set including two iComfort® Renewal Refined™ Pillows, one Sleep to Go™ Luxury Fleece Blanket, one iComfort Luxury Sheet Set (Queen or King), and one Serta Sheep Toy (to give to your child as a consolation prize).
You can find the full rules here.
To find your perfect mattress match, you can use Serta’s online iComfort/iSeries mattress selector tool or download their new app.
And let me know if there is a Shaq-sized option.
Because I will buy it.

Oh no. This prize must be upgraded to a king. A California king.
#9 and #14 are the same kids, not sure if that matters. Adorable top 20 though!!
In that case the parents deserve a second entry, lol.
I’m so excited to be a finalist!! Vote for me (use your butt as a leg rest)
I love the caption you chose for my boys, they are too cute to move (some nights)! So fun to be a part of this!
Too bad my bed of ET like stuffed animals with “find the sleeping child!” wasn’t chosen, but so many of these are my life! I just don’t have someone else to take a picture of when my daughter traps me in three inches of space with the only thing keeping me from falling off the bed is her legs thrown over my waist, lol. Great contest, these really are so fun.
So excited to be a finalist! I am fine winning a Queen because perhaps I will just take the Queen to another room and leave my husband and the kids 🙂 Or maybe just put two Queens together and make my own Shaq bed. Then we can all vote on what superhero design I need in the middle.
Oh, Tess. I voted for you. I think I was pretty much obligated considering the fact that you are my sister. But seriously, not only is one of your own kids in this photo, but you’ve got one of mine too. (I totally owe you some overnight babysitting by the way.) You deserve a Shaq bed all for yourself.
Thank you for choosing me as a finalist! I am almost 8 months pregnant with baby #3 and the pic I submitted “When your dog tells you it’s your turn to sleep on the couch”, is an accurate glimpse into my nightly bedtime battle! I usually end up in my son’s bunk bed! Thank you again! I wish everyone good luck!
Two of the photos are the same children. Seems unfair that someone gets two chances to win.
I agree. Both pics are cute, but they shouldn’t have twice the chance over the others.
I didn’t realize they were the same kids but it isn’t against the rules for someone to have two pics going into the finals. I think it would be less fair if I changed it now and I don’t think it puts them to an advantage since people can only vote for one pic at a time. If anything, it makes it harder since they have to make sure their friends all vote for the right pic.
Thank you, Mommy Shorts! It’s simply just an honor to be finalists (and on your blog)! Friends and I are big fans! Good luck to everyone!
I wish I would have known about this contest sooner! I have a hilarious sleeping picture of my kids! Please message me if you do this again!
I love the dog! My dog tells me to sleep on the couch all the time, and our son doesn’t sleep with us!
These are hilarious… we to have the same problem, but are usually to cranky and sleep-deprived to take pics! ha ha
I love all of these!!! I had to vote for “When you can’t sleep because your baby is playing with your face” because Dylan does that all.the.time! Sometimes when I’m trying to get him settled for sleep, but also just when I’m holding him throughout the day. So, I relate the most to that mom. I can’t wait to see who wins! That mattress looks awesome!
Cute/sweet
When you can’t fit in the bed
**When you can’t fit in the picture!!
I have a California King…. trust me… no bed is big enough when you have kids…..
OMGOSH. THESE ARE SOOOO GOOD. PRETTY MUCH ALL DESCRIBE MY CURRENT SITUATION!!!
EXCEPT MY KIDS ARE 1&3. IM HOPING FOR THE DAY THEY GO TO THEIR OWN BED. BUT I SEE IT MAY TAKE LONGER THAN I THOUGHT
Thanks so much for this. It was funny.
I Wish i had known about This sooner i would have asked My husband to take a picture of when your Child stick a to you like velcro and confines you to 6 inches out of a long size bed
Dang, I wish I knew about the contest. My son often gets in between me and the edge… with my infant behind me I get in ‘sleep jail’ holding him from failing on the floor, and never rolling on my infant. Sometimes for hours!!
looks like they all need king size beds!! I’m also glad to see I’m not alone! Though I have a 2 year helicopter in the middle and the 6 year sneaks in and lays on my legs in the middle of the night!!!
Hey just an FYI California KING is smaller than a regular KING, it’s slightly longer but not as wide. Good for very tall people. We just went mattress shopping and I thought like everyone here. We got a KING because of our bed hogging dogs. My 6’3 1/2″ hubby fits fine on it and we have all that lovely real estate in the middle.
Always have had a king size bed (32yrs). But, it has been necessary… Many, many nights there was a child across the head, child across the foot, child in the middle, with at least two dogs filling in the gaps… At times not even room to move, let alone turn over!!!
Oh I wish I had heard about this contest! How about “When you and your husband sleep in the living room couch together, because there is no space in your own bed?”
OMG! This has me laughing so hard!!!! Our house resembles every one of these. Once I ended up with a 13yo daughter who is taller than me and two 5yo boys (our twins) in bed with me. I went to the guest room….
How about, no matter how far from you your infants starts out, he rolls over enough that you end up with 6 inches of bed. Every. Single. Night.
Laughing so hard because I experienced every single one of these at some point. But the most common was the feet in the face. My mom kept telling me to get a King size bed. My sister has three kids. They finally got two queen size beds and put them side by side.. Wall to wall bed!
Does this end tomorrow at midnight?
I love “when you can’t even fit in the picture”!
I can totally relate to When your kids are way too old to be sleeping in your bed
Voted! Those old kids shouldn’t be taking up space in your bed, ha ha!
Cute Pics! Voted #6 “When your kids are way to old to be sleeping in your bed” love it!
I love the “When your kids are way too old to be sleeping in your bed” the best!
They’re never too old to be sleeping in Moms bed, lol
#6 – “When your kids are too old to be sleeping on your bed” is so spot on!
What a cute contest! I enjoyed voting for my friend’s entry! Good luck to all of the finalists!
I love the pic of the “Kids way to old to be sleeping in your bed”. I think a lot of parents can relate!
Love the WHEN YOUR KIDS ARE WAY TOO OLD TO BE SLEEPING IN YOUR BED picture, reminds me of when I was growing up
voted. I love when the kids are way too old to be sleeping in the bed.
These are adorable. I love the kids that are too old to be in bed. If my daughter gets that big and attempts to muscle us out of bed she will be sad.
I can so relate to when your kids are way too old. My 25 year still comes in when she is not feeling well. 🙂
#6 When your kids are way to old to be in bed is my favorite! Please vote for #6!
I think the one that says your kids are too old to be sleeping in your bed is a lame entry because at that point if you don’t have the authority to tell your children what they should be doing then they will never listen to you or anyone else, just saying. I like the kids playing with your face, or the girl taking up the space for 5 people, or the you can’t even fit in the picture. Those are real entries 😉
How unfortunate for you that you can’t just enjoy the contest. Maybe your parents never exercised authority over your decision to exhibit poor sportsmanship under an assumed name.
I have been following this contest from the start and it is obvious that the number one place right now is cheating! I know the Serta marketing team will not be happy with the way this promotion was run.
Christine C – Are you referring to “when you can’t even fit in the picture” as cheating? That is my picture and I certainly haven’t done anything that would be considered cheating. I have spammed all of my groups and mommy forums for help and have stuck with it every single day, multiple times. I even offered small giveaways in my own groups if people helped me vote and I succeeded in winning. I have been active in promoting from day 1 when I screamed up and down that I was a finalist. My number has been very slowly rising for the last few days, and I’m not sure why. I would be happy with a new bed, or new pillows, or nothing at all. I enjoyed the experience of being a part of this contest and I’m sure my friends/family/followers are sick of me spamming them everyday.
You offered small giveaways to people that voted for you? I call that materially incentivizing the vote…… A lot of people what call that cheating.
I offered all the mommies in my local mommy group FREE NAPS while i watch their kids (it was actually a pretty funny conversation) and I offered to raffle an aden + anais swaddle blanket in one of the other groups I’m active in. I went to google, typed “how to get people to vote for you” and it came up with a list of ideas, including that one, so I listened to google and posted my contest everywhere I possibly good, including finding people to exchange votes with. I don’t think thats cheating at all, I just did some research to find the best way. Ive never been in a contest before, this is the first one ever and i had no idea, so i googled.
1 – any voting contest always has within the rules at any attempt to buy votes or offer up a service for votes is an automatic disqualification. I can not believe Serta Promo team approved these rules without that statement. 2. It was brought up to MommyShorts how the vote was being manipulated as someone knew about or found the loop hole on how to gain unlimited votes from day 1. Once the IP tracking was put in then it became a “real” voting contest. Had all those “mommy group” members really been voting daily the winner’s voting win margin would have been way way higher even after the loop hole to manipulate the voting was fixed. But it wasn’t .. instead the ones who had real friends and real hard work into getting people to vote, without having to buy their votes, climbed up the ladder and into the 2nd and 3rd place. I’ve emailed Serta promo company as once the loop hole to get unlimited votes was brought to the host attention the leader should have been disqualified immediately, AS PER THE RULES – they manipulated the site another disqualification AS PER THE RULES. please follow the sponsor rules – I can not imagine Serta taking this lightly.
She’s not cheating : ) She’s asking her friends to help her out.
Thank you to everyone for your feedback. I want to let you all know I’m taking this seriously and have already begun looking into the situation to get further clarity.
I’m trying my best to do my due diligence on my end since It’s not as easy as just believing one person or another. I am reviewing the rules and have reached out to Polldaddy to see if they can help me assess the situation. My goal with all of my sponsored campaigns is to create fun initiatives, so that we can all share a bit about what’s happening in each of our households with each other. Despite the controversy, I sincerely hope you all enjoyed participating and seeing all of the amazing entries.
I dont understand anything Kat said, I’m not very “computer savvy”… I actually reached out to PollDaddy a few days ago because I was getting a bunch of votes and my percentage wasn’t increasing but others were. I asked them how the percentages were calculated because I didnt understand how all my family/friends/followers were voting but my percentage would only move .05 percent over the course of a few hours when I knew that people were voting because they would tell me. I never heard back from them. I don’t think its fair that I am being accused of cheating, I promoted the contest everywhere I could and contacted every person possible to vote for me. I have received threatening messages and comments over this, it’s hardly a pleasant experience unfortunately.
Not according to what WAS written on your FB page! Cheaters never win because karma’s name is “b—-“
on my FB page?? what was written?

Voted for when you can’t even fit in the picture! So funny!
Voted!
I’m so glad to see “When you don’t fit in the picture ” won! Nothing like a group of moms coming together to raise another mama up for a win! High-5 ladies for keeping it classy 🙂
I too am glad that “When you don’t fit in the picture” won. This was a neat contest with a great prize. Nicole is lucky to have a supportive group of friends and a great picture, which is what got her in the contest to start with. ::High 5:: Ladies always keep is classy.
Hold the phone. I am the original Christine C. My last name is Curcio I left the comment about how I didn’t feel it right for grown kids to be in your bed. But I didn’t reply to the comment someone else did and used a lower case c pretending to be me. Now that’s shady! Also I did vote for one picture because I was asked to and I am glad she won the votes because she deserves it!
