I don’t mean to brag, but when I was in my 20s, I had a general idea of what was going on in the world of pop culture. Back then, I actually watched my favorite TV shows on the very same night a new episode came out, instead of on Netflix three seasons after everyone else on the planet has lost interest.

I listened to newly released music and watched up and coming indie bands at local bars, instead of listening to Kidz Bop versions of ’90s hits in the car.

I even—now, stay with me here—saw movies IN THE THEATER. Movies that weren’t cartoons, no less!

Now that I’m a mom, things are a bit different. When I’m online, it’s all I can do to keep up with parenting trends and current events, that pop culture has taken a backseat. Every time I see a copy of US Weekly, I’m like “Who is that person? Is she famous? She’s dating who? Oh, I’ve never heard of that person either. Are they on a reality show or something? No? They were both nominated for Academy Awards last year? Oh. I guess I’m a little out of the loop.”

Well, at least I’m not alone. The BreakWomb had the perfect video for those of us who’ve asked ourselves, “Is Game of Thrones the same as House of Cards?” or “Do people still twerk?”
