Summer is almost here which means shorts and sandals season is starting. There will be pool days and beach days and trekking across the hot sand with about 500 lbs. of supplies. Is taking the kids to the beach worth it? I still haven’t figured that one out. But we do it anyway.
The summer also means that once again I’ll be packing up the kids to move to our house out east for July and August. I’ve got to get their clothes in order, stock up on sunscreen, make sure everyone’s got sandals that fit and bathing suits that aren’t stretched out and suitable sneakers for summer camp.
Harlow needs a tennis racket. Which sounds ridiculous but it’s true. It’s one of the supplies required on the summer camp list.
We also need pool shoes because if I count the times I’ve seen kids emerge from a pool with bloody feet, I’d be counting until next summer. Pool shoes and Waterblock Bandages, otherwise my pool always has a pile of discarded bandages next to the steps.
Is it possible that anyone uses Band-Aid bandages more than my family over the summer? I don’t think so. I think it’s partly because the kids are more likely to get bruises in July and August (a combination of being more active and having more skin exposed) and because having more skin exposed gives the girls an opportunity to adorn themselves with a favorite character Band-Aid bandage whether they need it or not.
People have fun playing #spotthebandaid on my Instagram posts because Mazzy’s always got five on her knee and one on her thumb and Harlow puts them on every finger like they’re some kind of fashion statement.
If one kid gets legitimately hurt, the other wants a bandage too. And they seem not to understand that you really only need a Band-Aid when there is bleeding involved. I can’t tell you how many times I have put a Band Aid on absolutely nothing and they insist it feels better afterwards.
Harlow now likes to put bandages on herself which means she’ll most likely fold one in half and have to get another. God forbid, that Band-Aid was the last Dory and then she has to accept a Nemo. Or she ruined her favorite Oh Joy! flower patterned Band-Aid and she has to take a “You’re Okay” Oh Joy! Band-Aid instead.
The Oh Joy! Band-Aid collection is actually my new favorite because they appeal to both the girls and to me. Sometimes I need bandages in the summer too! It’s nice to have an option that isn’t a Disney character.
I’ll never forget the time, Mike dropped a glass, cut his foot and started bleeding. I got him a Band-Aid and the following conversation ensued…
MIKE: What the hell is this?
ME: It’s a Band-Aid.
MIKE: What’s on it?
ME: Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
MIKE: Do we have any other bandages?
ME: Yes. We’ve got Dora, Hello Kitty, and the Disney Princess variety pack.
MIKE: I’ll take Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
ME: That’s what I thought.

This post is sponsored by Johnson & Johnson but my kids’ obsessions with Band-Aid bandages has been well-documented before this post!
For the longest time they preferred Winnie The Pooh (old school), and I found a fabulous deal on Winnie the Pooh band aids. Of course we didn’t even make it half way through before they were too ‘babyish’ and now we must buy Star Wars. Luckily, I don’t care and am willing to use the Pooh ones 😉
As long as it has some sort of design that will do but they especially love Minions and Frozen!
We currently have cupcake and superhero bandaids. We also cannot just use one…kind of like lays potato chips…cannot just eat one…must use multiple. Lol
My daughter loves a lot of different characters (Frozen, Paw Patrol, Mickey, Cars, etc) so she’s happy with any Band-aid!
Sigh. Frozen. No Olaf. Only Anna and Elsa. It’s never going to end, is it?
We have a mixture of Sesame Street and Sofia the First. We’re down to the small Sesame Street ones, so she now refuses to use them and will only accept the larger Sofia ones.
Paw Patrol is her new favorite!
Mickey Mouse and Frozen!
My daughter loves Hello Kitty…..and the Oh Joy ones look adorable too! Are those part of the Bandaid collection?
superheroes, cars and dory. all well until changing time…the ripping and seaming 🙂
My daughter rocks the plain old brown band aids because somehow we acquired about 100 travel packs of them. I am not sure she knows Elsa exists in band aid form and for that I am grateful. Once that supply dwindles, maybe we’ll venture to target and pick a new style.
My 3 year old loves minion bandaids the most at the moment.
Paw Patrol or Hello Kitty! I’ve got five kiddos and one on the way! Band aids make all boo boos better!
they like the star wars characters
my son loves the teenage mutant ninja turtles band-aids
Finding Nemo… she loves to see the fishies!
Somehow my toddler always wants a character that doesn’t exist. A pink elephant! a blue monkey! oy vey.
My son loves the camo band aids.
My boys are really into superheros, so we they love bandaids with Batman, Superman, Spiderman and Avengers. Also, we can’t forget about Jurassic Park!
Star Wars and Elmo band aids are very popular at our house!
My daughters both love the Disney princess pack, unfortunately they don’t come with enough Cinderella band-aids and she is their favorite.
We are a little young for characters — but I feel that we are quickly getting to the point where kisses from mom won’t fix everything!
My 3 year old loves the princess variety pack, any one of the princess will work for her. I do love the Oh Joy band-aids though, and I’ve been able to get her to start using them too. Just like you said, it’s nice to not have to use a Ariel band-aid if I need one.
I have to go with the Disney princess character pack. Or Frozen… really, they think we have to have both.
My kids love the Star Wars band aids because they think “the force” heals their boo boos 😉
He’s not into bandaids yet, but he was quite fond of the Princess one he got on a plane ride with friends in April.
We all love Charlie Brown so everyone in our house shares the Peanuts band-aids.
Spiderman!
I have somehow managed to aviod the bandaid fascination in my house. But it in my house it would be paw patrol!!!!!
My daughter loves the Frozen Band-Aids but let’s get younger brother have the Olaf ones when he’s hurt
My kids are not picky as long as there are plenty of character bandaids for their real and fake boo-boos. We currently have in stock – Princess variety pack, Star Wars, Mickey Mouse, and Inside Out.
My girls always seem to want whichever one we do not currently have! HA! I’ve taken to buying plain ones and then drawing a smiley or shape on them with marker and it seems to stop the tears.
Inside Out! My almost 2 year old loves Sadness and walks around showing everyone her Sadnee.
Thomas! But Snoopy and Star Wars are also favorites.
My daughter goes through so many band aids, she puts them on invisible boo boo’s all the time. Her favorite is Barbie.
My little is 21 months so it’s Elmo all the way!
Disney Princess is what we have in stock right now 🙂
Snoopy
My kids aren’t terribly picky yet, but anything with a princess is appreciated by my almost 4 year old.
Haha, I love this post …especially because I just got home from Walgreens with more Finding Dory (and Nemo) and Disney Princess Band-Aids. Also neosporin, guaze and extra long bandages since my son burned his fingers on the stove yesterday! Ughhhh. Anywhooo, Dory and Frozen (Olaf preferably!) Band Aids rule at our house right now.
One like Hello Kitty and the other doesn’t like bandages of any kind
Mine would love Star Wars!
my daughter loves anything with a princess on it. she has a love for cinderella and sofia. if it sparkles, has a unicorn, or any general rainbow coloring, she can be sold on it. 😀
Huh. We don’t use character Band-Aids. The only time my daughter gets them is when she gets shots at her pediatrician’s office. So the kid is happy as a clam with whatever character she gets!
Any of the Avenger’s, Star Wars or Minions will work in our household. We can convince my younger son (2) that they are stickers and not Band-Aids because he associates Band-Aids with shots at his well check appointments.
Current favorite is Paw Patrol
My daughter loves the Mario Band-Aids that we have. She is always trying to remove them.
Mickey Mouse! And my daughter loves all animals too!
Recently started with the character band aids. Bad idea. Lightning McQueen and princesses for all their imaginary boo boo needs.
Bubble guppies are the smear favorite around here
Darth Vader! Sometimes any Star Wars will do, but usually only Vader will do.
We usually have about 8 different kinds of Band-AIDS cause my kids are the exact same as yours but right now I think Inside Out is the favorite.
i love you
Definitely the Paw patrol guys. Lots of characters to fight over!
Paw patrol always saves the day at our house!
Hello Kitty rules our house!
Frozen and anything Princess related!
the Little Pony because of love of horses. also the oh Joy because of all of the pretty spring colors and designs.
Hannah is over the characters at this point (11 years old) but Aaron (3 years old) is all about the super heroes on everything, bandaids included.
My daughters love Barbie, muppets and fairy band aids.
Anything Mickey works for my daughter!
Paw patrol always!
any superhero will do in my all-boy house!
Frozen is so popular and now wishing there was a Zootopia bandaid! Gotta love anything Disney.
My son has to have the Star Wars bandaids
My boy/girl twins are into Paw Patrol right now. We had these Cowboy ones I found in Nashville and when those ran out they wanted to go to Target to get more……
Clifford, no contest.
Avengers or Star Wars for the boys. I’m pretty much stuck with whatever is refused – like the one with just Avengers written on it :-/
My girl loves hello kitty
My son likes the Cars band-aids or Robots, though he is happy with pretty much any design. Fortunately we don’t go through too many.
starwars
Minions, Inside out, and Shopkins.
We have more band-aids in the cupboard then Red Cross.
Paw patrol & Disney princesses is the favorite for our house.
At the moment, Avengers seem to be the Band-Aid of choice, followed closely by Star Wars. 🙂
My daughter (6) love Shopkins and my son (2) loves Jurassic park or anything else that’s goes ‘Raww!’.
I have two rough & tumble boys so we can never have enough Band-Aids in our home! There favorite character Band-Aids are Star Wars with Mickey Mouse in a close 2nd.
Anything “booful” (beautiful) 🙂
Princesses! All day everyday! ? Even her bruises need band aids.
Star wars!
