One of the amazing things about blogging is you get close with people online who you never would have met in real life. You read their stories, look at pictures of their families and in some cases, develop actual friendships.
One such friend of mine is a blogger named Courtney (from Our Small Moments) who lost her husband Scott to a rare form of cancer on Monday.
Courtney is a teacher with two small children (McCartney and Anastasia) and I can't even begin to explain the roller coaster her family has been on since they first heard the diagnosis this past January or the strength Courtney has shown right up to Scott's final days.
Obviously, she needs strength more than ever now.
I have never met Courtney and I only know the pieces of her story that she has chosen to share online— both publicly and privately. But through her words, I have come to know a very brave, open individual who is truly an inspiration to those around her.
We were all stunned to see something so tragic happen to someone so good.
A bunch of us in the blogging community have banded together to see what we can do to help a fellow member in need. Our goal is to alleviate the stress of Courtney's mounting medical bills so that she can focus on her family.
We are trying to raise $25,000 through a fund set up on Give Forward.
Even if she doesn't have the words to respond right now, I know that she is reading all of them.
