I’ve decided I’m moving my weekly newsletter to Fridays! That way I end the week definitively and don’t have to pick everything up again on Sunday. WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT BEFORE? If you are a longtime reader, this will be like my old Friday recaps! Remember those? Woohoo! I’m excited.

This week, we officially moved back into our apartment, which is both good and bad. Good, because we got all our stuff back (something the kids are really happy about), but bad, because it feels a little bit like defeat. The place is not finished yet, there will most likely be more work to redo some of the redo next summer, and I also have to accept that it will never be exactly how I imagined.

I know, not exactly the happy home reno story I was hoping to tell.

We had a very bad experience with the company Home Polish, who hired our team and was managing the project. You guys know I rarely bad mouth anybody, so I hope you take my non-recommendation seriously. In my opinion, Home Polish either doesn’t know what they are doing or they just didn’t care about our end results. I announced that I was working with them back in June, so I thought it was my responsibility to tell how this story played out truthfully. I don’t want anyone who follows me to use Home Polish and get themselves in the same horrible position. My plan is to go into more detail about what went wrong next week and hopefully educate people who might be considering a home renovation of their own.

Looking back, there were a lot of red flags that I missed because I really wanted to get it done. Ironically, I think I was fooled by their pretty Instagram account. Ugh. Anyway, when I do post about this, I would appreciate as much support as possible. It’s not an easy thing to write about.

But that’s next week. This week, I’m talking about Mazzy’s second fashion shoot, books for non-traditional families and giving your kid a camera on vacation. Also, who is Team No Homework? I think Mazzy might be on to something.

If you are looking for something to do with the kids in NYC this weekend, check out the new Oliver Jeffer’s installation on the Highline that I posted about on @pinkinnyc.

On the non-parenting front, I’m currently obsessed with the Fyre Festival documentaries— I watched the Netflix one and the Hulu one back to back, which I think are both necessary for the full picture. I’m thinking about writing about it next week, so if you want to know what I’m talking about, watch them this weekend!
