Last week, I headed out to Orlando for the Mom 2.0 Summit, a conference for parenting bloggers and social media influencers. On the last night of the conference, there is something called the Iris Awards, where everyone gets decked out, walks the red carpet and attends the blogging version of the Oscars.

In previous years, I’m used to being one of the people skulking in the back, drowning my unrecognized talents in multiple glasses of wine with my other unrecognized but amazingly talented friends. This year was different though because I was nominated for three awards— Instagram of the Year, Best Sponsored Content (for my Dinner Dates with Toddlers video for Similac) and Mom Blogger of the Year (which was the last award of the night).

Honestly, leading up to the big event, I almost wished that I wasn’t nominated because I am way more comfortable skulking, but I got all dressed up and promised to smile even if I ended up losing all three.

Want to see how it all went down? I made a vlog about it!

Yep. I won. I still can’t believe it. Mom Blogger of the Year was the last award of the night so it made the whole evening such an emotional roller coaster of suspense. With an excellent ending, obviously!

I am so thankful to you guys for reading and also to the entire blogging community for embracing me. Or at least the parenting bloggers. Pretty sure Manrepeller and Design Sponge have no idea who I am.

And if you are wondering who Cara is, she’s the person who manages all of my brand partnerships so I can focus on being creative. I started working with her four years ago (I invented the position for her at the same time that I decided to pursue blogging full-time, before any brands were really thinking about working seriously with influencers) and it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made.

That’s Cara on the left and Deva from My Life Suckers on the right, my amazingly talented skulking partner in crime. I love her to death.

In conclusion… YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ll leave it at that.
