Mazzy is 8 months old and she hasn't laughed yet.  She's not ticklish and no matter how hard I try, I can't elicit that coveted belly laugh. I've come to the conclusion that either she is completely humorless or she has such an incredibly superior sense of humor that I am not able to meet her high comedic standards. (Maybe she'll be the next Tina Fey!) In my efforts to get Mazzy to laugh, I have consulted my favorite parenting forum: Youtube. They have tons of video demonstrations to aide me in my quest.

Here's what I learned:

Ripping paper can be highly effective.

Peekaboo is obvious but reliable, especially when administered by a small boy.

Wii golf is guaranteed hilarity.

If all else fails, try sticking a ladle out of a couch cushion.

Other examples include fake sneezing, making animal sounds, and using bad Scottish accents. But with each attempt, Mazzy just stares at me as if I've lost my mind.  I even tried watching the videos with her thinking that all she needed was an example of another baby laughing but nope, that didn't work either.

But then yesterday something monumental happened. It wasn't quite a belly laugh but it was a definite laugh none the less. You know what did it? I kissed the back of her hand. How sweet is that? Too bad it also means that her sense of humor sucks after all.
